has anyone mounted back up lights to their camper shells?

thinking of getting some DD pod lights to help with reversing and also to provide light for the tailgate area

Those are ditch light brackets in the pic. Caliraised makes some brackets that go through the tailgate and use factory anchor points for rear pod lights, antenna, off road flags. I haven’t installed any additional lights but have temporary options (led plug in work light, etc).

I bought one just to test it out and have an easy flag mount if I go to some of the public areas that require a flag.

@Puppypunter Makes a great plug-and-play wiretap for the camper shell light.

Interested to see this. I was wondering if something like this existed. My ARE installer ran a nice heavy gauge power wire to my cap (too much draw to use existing led wiring).

hm… I like this. I just wonder if the light pod would fit with the camper shell in the back?

He also makes a 3rd gen one as well. I replaced my harness because the prior install many years ago was all spliced up.

It would be tight with the rear window of the cap. I haven’t tested it yet. It barely misses the edge of the tailgate too. So if it gets bent it might scrape the tailgate edge. They also make some recessed options where you could flush mount them into existing plastic bumper shell, but would lose ability to easily aim them at the work you need them for.

For just reverse lights, Diode dynamics makes some LED back up bulbs for the Tacoma, hilariously bright, cheaper, and easier.

    I'm extremely happy with them

I changed my reverse lights to some Amazon brand LEDs for around $20 and they are like headlights in reverse. I think she is looking for something with a switch to use when parked etc.

it fits. I have two square rigid pods and the door of the canopy clears them fine.

I have an UpTop rack that I made a mount for. It has two SSC2s that are auxiliary reverse. I’ll grab a picture later, but the whole thing isn’t mounted (or wires even) yet

I mounted DD SC2 on my camper shell roof rack (uptop overland). What's your purpose to install this light? it helps me during camping to lit the tailgate area while preparing for cooking and etc. However, it doesn't improve lighting when I back up the truck i think because of my tinted rear window.
