Is there an external cd that works in a 2021 Tacoma?

^look at the gold plated aux goodness^
Kickin’ it somewhat old school bruh?
Too bad it’s not a walkman with that aux tape deck thingy. I remember the days of blasting Slayer in my parents Mazda MPV through that tape thing. Simpler times.

I'm sure it's possible with a portable CD player, aux cable and some sort of adapter for input into the harness on the back of the head unit or a portable CD player with Bluetooth, but you will save yourself $, time and be able to control everything without taking your hands off the wheel if you rip to USB SSD and play from or load into head unit.

There are automotive external cd players that connect via the USB port on cars that have Apple Carplay like our Tacoma’s do.

(AIE) - Smart CD Player with Wireless CarPlay - use in (2017+) Vehicles with CarPlay Enabled Factory Radio with USB Input Port. One Cable Installation. CD Player Included, with Screen Sharing. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B09GD8ML2Q

Who has installed an EXTERNAL CD player to either the AUX mini plug or the USB port? Prefer to reserve the USB port for my phone navigation. Brand and model please. 2023.
Reading Amazon reviews, an awful lot of failures that do not work out.

Rip to a USB, be done with it. No extra power needed to keep the CD player running, hand-free(mostly ... easier at least) than swapping physical CDs.

I have an old Sony CD Walkman that plugs into the cigarette lighter and hooks up to a JW (Just Wireless) FM transmitter that I found at Target https://www.target.com/p/just-wirel...12w-2-port-usb-car-charger-black/-/A-53271865. Not super elegant, not terribly convenient while driving, but it works and was cheap. The bigger issue will probably be finding a quality portable CD player if you don't have one lying around :)

This. I have all my CDs on a USB thumb drive. The stock Entune MP3 interface has search by artist, album etc. It works really well.
I used a 64 GB Samsung FIT drive. About $11 on Amazon.

I have several hundred CD's, many are out of print. I am not going to dedicate hours and hours of ripping my collection to MP3 (and lower the sound quality in process).
I am in the same boat as OP. Gonna try a USB player next month, will post how it goes.

There's Entune 3.0 stereo with a CD player. I have one. It came from a Sienna.

So you would rather risk damage or loss of out of print disks than spend some time to do high rate rips
Also the cabin of a Tacoma is not exactly a high resolution listening environment

@Barsoom must have heard that replacing the tweeters in the Tacoma turns it into a certifiable symphony hall.

So rip it in a format like FLAC or WAV using EAC software. If it's good enough to audiophiles, it's good enough for the trash Tacoma audio experience. Apart from the experience of vinyl or tape, there's no benefit to running physical media anymore.

I am not spending time to rip 500+ CDs. Sienna Etune 3.0 sounds like a great idea.

PS I was splicing reel to reel tapes and designing/installing auditorium sound systems before you were born, so I will do what I want and I could not care less about random stranger's advice about ripping my CDs.
