I use the RAM Passenger Seat Bolt Mount. Holds my Samsung 10" tablet on bumpy trails and race tracks with ease. Handy if you ever have a shotgun rider that can navigate while you drive.

*Vehicle was parked, PBR was for install hydration. Don't drink and drive.

Yep, parked in the garage. But pretty sure the listerine I used this morning has a higher ABV % than Utah grade PBR.

Proclip phone holder + Panavise mount = best phone mount combo in the 2nd gen. Although its still distracting and not recommended to operate the phone while driving.

I was gonna mount the RAM bolt through mount to my A pillar grab handle as shown in this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mod-a-pillar-ram-mount-gps-phone-holder.372250/

and I ordered 3 balls since I figured I'd do both grab handles in the Taco and the passenger side one in the 4R.

However, I really didn't like the very small range of adjustability of the arm and device. RAM balls are designed to be mounted straight up (or down) to give the most adjustability. Mounting them sideways significantly limits movement. So I ended up not using the mounts as intended.

I have RAM U-bolt handlebar mounts on my bikes, so I removed one of them off the bike and replaced it with a RAM bolt-through handlebar mount. I then installed that U-bolt RAM mount to the Taco's rearview mirror (note, I also have an ImMrYo mirror raising bracket):

Then I mounted one of the other RAM bolt through balls to the console top of the Taco (if you do this you need to sandwich a fat fender washer on either side of the console so it will be RAM ball -> washer -> console -> washer -> nut):

I may end up not using them but as I always say, it's better to have balls and not need them than to need balls and not have them...

The bolt that holds the ball into the captive nut in the grab handle mount? It gets replaced with a M6 x 50 mm.

So I just spent some time looking at RAM's website - they have a ton of cool components to build your own mounts. I bought a few arms with adjustable mid-sections to allow for more adjustability of the device. It's cheapest to find what you want and then copy and paste the RAM product number into E-bay or Amazon search and buy the item that way.

The basic link to their mounting components (bases and arms only, not devices) for our preferred size, which is the most common 1" ball / 'B' size is:

    https://www.rammount.com/shop-all/popular-components/b-size

It's 11 pages long and has some cool ideas. Some of the products I thought were pretty useful are (model number above image):

    RAP-B-200-2U

    RAP-B-200-12U

    RAP-B-369AU (mirror tab mount)

RAM-B-231Z-RVMU (which is basically what I made using the handlebar mount pictured in my above post)

Any updates on the grip of these mounts for phones? Looking at getting two for our phone but heard they don’t hold well?
