Idk about anti seize on a cc axle, but diff oil certainly helps. Second the notion of rotating it because sometime it fits better for no reason

I like the Ring gear until I have to call customer support. Good luck getting someone who can talk off script and with an easy to understand American voice.

Agree on the diff side but I like anti seize on the hub side to make it easier to separate splines in the future. In AR it's probably not too much of an issue but my wife had an 1997 Accord at one point that had spent time up north. Took a LOT of penetrating oil and heat to separate that one. Ever since I've used anti seize on the splines at the hubs.

Got my wife the N2 designs remote start for her 4runner. Installed today and what a pain in the ass to work under the dash. Not very good instructions either. Very nice product just have to study the pages then climb under the dash. All in all it’s done and the wife is happy. Now for the rear molle panels.

Got the hub on finally. Turns out parts store gave me the wrong seal. Got the right one and went on like a glove. Now I’m in the process of changing brake pads and the pistons or whatever they’re called are seized and I can’t spread it enough to get the new pads and caliper on. Always something

    Yeah.
Don't you love it when that happens? I had a Lancia Beta years ago and needed to replace the timing belt. For the life of me, I couldn't get it to fit. I found the only Italian mechanic in the Dallas area that would actually work on it, and he informed me that it was easy once you have the right part. The one the parts store sold me was 2 teeth short, and I didn't bother comparing them. Life lesson there.

@PinnaclePete I put in a Ring doorbell at our last house, but similarly I didn't like paying for the cloud subscription without any additional services. Our current alarm system from Vivint has a video doorbell, an exterior camera, and an internal camera -- plus all the various alarm sensors. There's a phone app for the cameras, and my wife occasionally talks to me through the outside camera when I'm out front piddling around. Some day I am going to yell at her through the internal camera just for kicks. We pay a monthly fee that covers the monitoring and the cloud video storage, and they've been good about upgrading components as the new models come out. It's cool to be able to view a live feed from any of the cameras and play back any "events" it captures.

Ring does all that for $30/yr including storage and upgrades. I only got the front door bell and motion spotlight / camera overlooking the truck. Both have a speaker/microphone and a manual warning siren. Took a while to fine tune the sensitivity and motion zones so we don't pick up all the dog walkers and every vehicle passing the house. Now they pickup only within 25 feet of the truck / back gate, the sidewalk and front yard / porch.

I would never put an internal camera/Alexa type unit in the house...I kinda like what little privacy I got left. Spooky, scary that the doorbell can hear Rhonda talking inside the living room and I can hear my neighbors across the street / next door talking on live view mode.

Thats what i liked about the blink cameras. Bought 3 for $180 and no yearly anything and the free storage they provide is more than ample of us.

I have the Ring Protect Plus plan that provides extended warranty on the cameras and a bunch of cloud storage. I’ve had a chime wifi extender get replaced on warranty and one of my cameras went pink (it was stuck in night mode) and I was going to replace it too, but the customer service rep was so frustrating that I just gave up and a week later the camera fixed itself. Haven’t had a problem since

I have Nest thermostats and two Nest cameras inside the house. I could probably do without the interior cameras but they have come in handy when I’m out of town and want to check on the dog, or when we had our deep freeze and I wanted to see if any of the pipes in the kitchen burst.

Looked for a regional page and doesn't exist. Done a bit of research on places to play and it seems Arkansas does have some fun places. So, the problem and request: my daughter wants to go to Bentonville and mountain bike for a few days over spring break... I had planned on Moab. Compromise is we are heading to Arkansas. Are there any places for me to get my crawling fix near Bentonville? Even better-Dispersed camping and wheeling near Bentonville? Looking for local knowledge and advice on the area. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I found this page via another TW member. I have found a lot of material to sift through, and I will (starting back in 2013, so will take a bit to get through...). Hoping to save time with local knowledge. Been to Devils Den back in 2018-MTB riding and nice camping. Hoping there are places nearer to Bentonville... Thanks

    Yeah.
It depends on what you consider "near" to Bentonville. To me, Devil's Den isn't far. There's nothing for dispersed camping any closer. But, the Ozark NF is just east of Devil's Den and is full of places to explore and dispersed camp sites. Depending on where you go in the NF, it's between about a 1 to 3 hour drive to Bentonville. There are some closer places with campgrounds, though. Hobbs State Park to the east is beautiful and has hike and bike trails. Blowing Springs has trails and camp sites. And there's Lake Wedington to the south.

As far as crawling, there's nothing I know of that would compare to Moab, but maybe someone else knows of an area for that kind of wheeling. I'm sure there's some challenging ledges to climb somewhere.

Thanks-yea what is close. Sounds like I can push southeast and get all of it. I will look and do some digging tonight. Crawling is just me pouting... Missed going last year because of Covid and this year my youngest said NOWAY. She really enjoyed riding Arkansas in 2018... I would like to see more of the back country so if there is riding she can explore then we are in. Bentonville is a starting point that we know.

Rush Springs off-road park is maybe 30 minutes from Bentonville. There's also the Buffalo Headwaters MTB trail in the middle of the Ozark NF with a bunch of dispersed camping and fun dirt roads to drive nearby.

There was a conversation about it a while back, but I got an email from Midland saying that the MXT500 is "coming next week." I knew a bunch of guys in this thread were using GMRS; so, this one piqued my interest.

    upload_2022-1-4_8-57-50.jpg

I do wish it had the controls in the mic like the MXT275VP4 though:
    upload_2022-1-4_9-1-32.jpg

For those who have already been using GMRS, is the jump from 15 watts to 50 watts worth the hassle of having to mount the "head unit (?)" in an accessible location? I'm just thinking about being space-conscious. And I'm sure it is going to be more expensive. Thoughts?

    Yeah.
Thanks for the heads up, just noticed that I got the email as well. I can't wait to see the full set of specs and features.

These units are pretty small, and even the one with the controls in the mic has the part that has to be mounted somewhere. I don't like the ones with the controls in the mic (funny how people are split), and I've got mine mounted on the passenger side of the console with the mic hanger on the right side of the A/C controls. It's accessible but out of the way.
