Man I hope next year is a good year. Breaking my PB is tough, but I’m hopeful. I fished a lot last year. This year might be less. New job, new responsibility. Boo!

I hope you all have a great new fishing year.

My last fishing trip was September 2019 Labor Day weekend. Kayak fishing off the northwestern most point of Washington.

Kayak fishing in the ocean in the winter is a "no go" for me. Then late Feb 2020, I was told I had Type 2 Diabetes with an A1C of 14 and blood sugar count of 365.

March 2020 came around and Covid pretty much shut down all fishing around here. That and I spent the rest of 2020 turning my T2D around and sending it packing. A1C down to 5.1, blood sugar below 100, and dropped from 245lbs to 190lbs.

2021 was all about upgrades to my Tacoma prepping for an 11 week Sabbatical away from work touring western Montana for future retirement locations, and fiddle dicking around SE Oregon desert hopping from one hot spring to the next.

2022 I am jumping back into ocean kayak fishing and fill my freezer proper!

I really want to get my 2022 fishing license and hit the Columbia for some kayak sturgeon in Jan/Feb. However, common sense tells me I should probably get reacquainted with my kayak in calm waters first.

Even if the fee tripled, it wouldn’t be worth a lifetime license in my opinion.not for me. Maybe if I moved “just across the state border” from an awesome lake. My luck the kid would say, “but I don’t like fishing!?

Just registered for my free fishing license being over 65....still cost me $5 for a trout salmon stamp. Now its just a matter of time for mother nature to freeze the lakes.
