I currently have an 07 TRD OffRoad with Manual Tacoma. May give this one to my son and am looking to purchase a new Tacoma.

I've been trying to decipher the 4WDemand system. To me it looks like the same on my Tacoma but found the blurb below about "limited-slip". Does this me in 4 Wheel drive I have limited slip all around. Basically I can drive in 4 High on pavement without binding. Would LOVE this option. Especially if I can get limited slip in the rear in 2 High. Stops the wheel spin on wet rounds.

"The Toyota Tacoma Automatic Limited-Slip Differential limits the amount of wheelspin at each axle to improve traction. "

At one time I read they were going to have an automatic 4 Wheel drive all the time then you can lock the center diff or put it in 4Lo.

    Thoughts?

No. We do not have AWD. Just the same part time 4WD that your 2007 has.

AutoLSD is a strong ABS / TCS mode that can get LSD-like traction while in 2Hi. See this thread for more details as the 3rd Gen TCS is excellent, but more complex than on the 2nd Gen:

That said, @Jowett is working adapting an AWD / 4WD T case from another Toyota model:

Yes, we can have AWD.... just not directly from Toyota. Drop me a message if you'd like more info.

I was reading your build. Sounds like you're having fun.

Will be a year or so till I get my garage back. Wife and I are throwing the keys at a realtor on 1/26 and becoming RV Nomads for a couple of years. Will miss my garage and truck. Son will take good care of it.

Would love to see the Taco have AWD in place of 2hi. I know there are drifters out there that will complain but I'm getting tired of going around corners when it is wet and spinning tires.

That's the nice thing about the Toyota/Aisin Multimode transfer case, it has all variations of drive power.

Are you still picking up a 21'? Flat towing it? While spitballing, I was considering placing manual hubs not only at the front, but each rear wheel, too.

Will set the new on up for flat towing and will be a manual. We currently have an MKX that is perfect for flat towing (my wife loves it).

Not sure about the manual hubs all around but would love to see an LSD center. Will continue to explore that option.
