My 2012 DCSB lasted about 5 years before the headlights started to fade. With my 2020 I'm hoping to avoid some of this or at least prolong the inevitable UV headlight fade. I am using a UV blocker /sealer on the headlights in hopes of slowing it down. My truck is my daily driver and it's difficult to avoid the sun while parked at work. But weekends are different. My garage faces almost due East. And I use my garage entrance as my primary entrance on weekends while working around the house and yard. So from about 7:00 am Saturday and Sunday mornings my Truck faces almost directly into the morning sun. And does so up until the garage shades it around 11:00 am. Now I could pull into the garage but the way my driveway curves (corner lot). It's a real pain in the ass the back out of it. So I though last week what could I do to shade the front of my truck while still giving me access through the garage? I had an idea so off to the local big box hardware store I drove. And this is what I came up with.
Cost me $35 total and took 15 minutes to install. Blocks 90% of all UV light according to the packaging.

How far above the garage door did you mount it?

About 6 inches. About middle ways between the door opening and the tension spring/rod.
It is made for a Patio, so water resistant. Plus air is allowed to pass through reducing swaying.
Easy to reach and works just like a window shade.

No real mods, slotted rotors for better breaking, and graphics.
have you considered uv wrap protection on your headlights? I ended up wrapping my headlights (well technically I tint wrapped them) because I found I kept having to polish them from fogging due to what I assumed what simply wind abrasion scuffing up the headlights. The way in which i wrapped them didn't cover the blinkers, it's been about 2 years and my blinker section is ready to be polished again, whereas the headlight section is still doing pretty good. They do make a clear version as well, this was simply done to match the black hood wrap at the time. Likewise, since your bumper is painted you can get a PPF (paint protection film) wrap on that as well. PPF is freaking expensive though.
