Is tricoat paint a good idea for a new shell?

    Not sure the extra cost yet but received a quote on a Ranch shell recently with "automotive grade" paint. Tricoat paint is an extra option but I don't know the price yet.

    Does this sound like just a way to get more money?

    I am not sure what this means in your case. Usually tri coat means base coat, tint, and clear. Like on some pearl finishes (Windchill). Regular metallics are basecoat clearcoat. What color do you have?
