    What color were they?

I know other company’s that deal with plastic say black usually is the strongest plastic. The dye in the colored plastic weakens it.

I have 2 black xbulls and have used them about 4 times now. They have helped me climb up rock ledges and other rock obstacles.

This past weekend it was quit muddy and I was having trouble climbing up an obstacle with rocks and mud. The board gave me the traction to get through it. (Took me about 30 min working the boards and the truck.). Wish I would of taken pictures during it.

Front tire was in a hole and the boards gave me enough traction to climb. This was about 3 weeks ago.

I've read the Action Trax are rated for rocks but MaxTrax are not recommended for use in rocks. Seems odd after seeing some of the torture testing in sand and how much abuse they can stand.

I'm more interested in how they perform in snow.

I just got done watching this video and the owner/developer said they have been tested to something like -17°. I like what I saw in the video and the material the product is made from. I have faith the Action Trax are as good, if not better than the MaxTraxx. Watch and decide for yourself.

I read the entire thread, have done some research, and watched torture tests of traction boards on YouTube. I know MaxTraxx have been the most reliable and I was close to purchasing a pair. I was also highly considering the ARB Tred Pro boards. I ultimately decided to go with the black US Action Trax model with metal studs at the entry points. I traverse a lot of ice in shady mountain valleys and believe the Action Trax will be my best bet for reliability and performance. Especially if adding some bolts to the ground side for better footing. Huge bonus (imo) they're made in the USA.

When I get a chance to use them, I'll post up my experience.

The Action Trax arrived today. Initial impression is they look pretty good. Crappy cell phone pics below.

    KIMG1788.jpg

A single board is almost 2 and 3/4 of an inch. Stack height is about 3 and 3/4 of an inch for both. So I figure a second set added (4 stacked total) would be almost 5 and 3/4 of an inch thick.

    KIMG1791.jpg

Looks like they covered the basic angles on tooth placement. Outer rails have alternating 45° "tooth" angles while the center has horizontal and vertical angled teeth. Rather than alternating every other tooth angle in the center, they went 3 verticle, 3 horizontal, etc... Seems like every other would be better, but I'm no engineer.

    KIMG1796.jpg

I didn't purchase leashes, so I figure I'll make some out of old, shot ratchet straps.

    KIMG1795.jpg

I seen some ARB Tred Pros for sale for a great price in unused condition. Was thinking of grabbing them as a good comparison (and just to have 4 boards) but seeing how nice these boards stack, I may just get a second set down the line.

And now that I got these, it probably won't snow again this season. Ha

I love that old saw. It's got some gnarly teeth on it. Not part of my recovery gear. Haha

I've found a couple of ratchet straps do the job. The open ended kind are the easiest

Tie a rope handle on your boards so you can pull them up out of the mud/sand afterwards.
