New Lunar Rock TRD Sport Softopper?

My Lunar Rock TRD Sport should be in at the dealer this week and I need to get some type of cap for the truck.

I will need to periodically use the topper for transporting my daughter’s non-powered wheelchair and for the dogs. I’m leaning heavily towards the Softopper due to the weight, price and ease of folding it down to use the bed. It will also be used to keep snow from accumulating too much inside the bed. Pretty much it will probably be up during the winter and as needed the rest of the year.

Is there any glaring disadvantage to the Softopper that I’m not seeing? It seems that how easily it folds up and down, or even complete removal and reinstallation outweighs any potential downsides I can see.

Does anyone have any pictures of Softoppers on Lunar Rock? I’m thinking of going with either the tan or gray.

i love my topper. My friends think they they are an easier thing to break into but if someone whats to break into something weather its a hard shell or soft shell they are going to. Being able to fold it down to have full access the the bed is awesome. Only downside for me was not having the ability to put anything above it but i just order some bars that go over it from heavy metal off road. install is a little difficult if its super cold out but mine out of the box and fully installed took me about an hour.


Not sure ive ever seen a soft topper on the lunar rock but i think the tan would look good. heres the tan on my silver tacoma

Did you get your soft topper? If so, what did you get? I order a Lunar Rock taco, and the soft topper is a must for me. Im leaning towards grey.

 

I went with tan.

I ordered it Jan 28th and have not received it yet. Most of their reviews also say that they take forever to ship with no communication. I’m willing to wait but it is getting a little old not having any clue when it will show up and being well past the 2-3 week ship time listed on their website.

 

I have one in my current truck and one on my former truck, they both shipped really fast but that was 2 years ago and 5-6 years ago. Maybe getting more popular these days and struggling with demand or something.

 

I’m actually wondering how tan would look also. I just got my truck today! The color really varies depending on the light where I feel tan or grey would work.

 

I actually want to see one with a tan! Black is too safe IMO. I also just got my TRD OR in Lunar rock with the TRD lift kit and planning to put a softopper.

 

I ordered the grey last night, hope it was a good choice.

 

Any Luck yet? Mine also has not shipped. Im going on a road trip in a couple weeks I really need it for.

I actually just checked the Fed-Ex tracking today and was surprised to see they had just gotten it today.

Ordered on January 28, finally shipped March 31st. One day shy of 9 weeks to ship.

 

I have no response that doesnt involve cursing. I cant believe 9 weeks, that is not cool. Thank you for updating, now I know not to expect anywhere close to 2-3 weeks.

 

Got it today, installation took maybe an hour and a half. I had already scoured the other Softopper thread and the instructions and saw that the pivot pin can be moved so I installed it in the lowest position since it was overcast and ~45f outside. When the weather warms up I will stretch it up from
The inside to the middle or even top position. Doing this gave me plenty of slack to get the snaps done without any hassle. I do think I will need to do some fine tuning on the rails and clamps to get it positioned a little better and I might need to adjust the front windowed flap to center it up a little better.
Overall installation was easy to do by myself but would have been quicker and easier with a helper, and especially with better weather. It is cold and windy here today.

I will also need to figure out how I want to secure the bottoms of the front and rear flaps. But it is on and here’s some pics!

I was able to get various lighting with the shade of the garage and I do like the color a lot! Between this and gray I think both would look great!

 

At least the actual shipping was fast! Looks great!

 

I finally got mine, we had a little snow storm so I haven’t installed it yet, but I think the grey will work out!

 

The gray is going to look great with those wheels. The tan one on mine is definitely pushing me harder towards tracking down some bronze TRD wheels.

 

I like the grey alot!
