Imo, always see the dealer first, and get their remedy for the repair. If an in warranty issue, or just out, you can then call the manufacture, and file a claim telling them your side of the issue. Be firm, but don't come across as an out of control customer swearing at them. You can always file a claim with consumer protection in your state. I even got results once telling the manufacture of a product that was sold to me that they will be on tv shortly. I think that got faster results than anything.

All i could tell you from having the head unit fail in our prius just out of warranty,.... toyota doesn't want to know anything once its past. They told me in no uncertain terms, they do not give away the store anymore. One good thing at least the op's truck is in warranty, so thats half the battle. Just have to see out it plays out. If a good dealer they will go to bat for their customer.

Yeah, we have a bad dealer here and a good dealer. The good dealer is still bad, but not as bad as the bad dealer.... But, Im out of warranty now anyhow so it doesnt mean anything to me.

I once had a dealer try to blame KO2s on my rear diff hum on my 16 and wasnt lifted. But have also had trucks lifted with leaking diff seal and never an issue under warranty, could go either way.

Interested to see how this turns out. I don't recall seeing many blown trannys on the 3rd gen forums.

Well, there was that one guy yesterday who posted like 4 threads with random words that had 2 transmission go out, then his loaner trucks transmission went out... but Im pretty sure that was all user error on the way he drives.

    Stock and staying that way
Way back in 1986, my very first traffic ticket was for “exhibition of acceleration in a school zone”, which is a fancy way of saying “neutral drop in my dads S10 Blazer without breaking the speed limit”. It was about 8’ of burnout. Maybe lol.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Perhaps reading comprehension isn't a strong point for you? Is it safe to assume that you would be satisfied with an absolute denial before your issue was even diagnosed and denied based on a cause that is absolutely irrelevant?

And YES. It is I that is responsible for all warranty denials from Toyota Motor Corporation. You can thank me later.

I think if theres an adequate history on 3rd gen transmissions failing for that year truck warranty will be no issue.

Here's what I know. If I know I caused the issue, for example grounding a circuit, I wouldn't try to slide it by Toyota. I'd own my mistake and fix it myself.

Personal responsibility goes a long way. You can thank me later.
