Yep, get the 48 inch. It fits perfectly.

So if I have a flat 4 pin trailer connection, is the Opt7 plug and play?

If you do not want reverse to work on the bar... Yes

The 4 pin trailer plug does not carry a reverse signal and the Opt7 with reverse has a white wire ready to use for the signal. It will require getting the reverse signal from someplace. Either one of the reverse buckets, the 7 pin connector, or as I used the Curt t-harness. IF you add the T-harness all of your wiring can be hidden behind the bumper and under the truck.

Choosing a 5 pin plug you get reverse and only need to add a bullet connector the end of the light bar's wire.

I hope that clears things up for you.

The effort that it would take to install a 5-pin, it would be easier to directly wire a tail bar.

My humble opinion, there's no reason to install a 5-pin flat - its such a rare connector. Most trailers that have five wires will just use a 7-pin RV these days.

I just noticed they don't make a plug and play 5 pin. That's why I deleted my post. I was just hoping to find a plug and play setup. I don't like messing with existing wires. I may just do without the reverse lights.

Reviving an old thread here, as I consider this mod for Tacoma. Does the reverse light further wash out the backup camera image, as the plate lights tend to do when upgraded to LEDs?

    As I saw it no.

I had the lightbar before I put in LED plate lights, and the light from the bar actually helped. When I added the LED plate lights is when the image was washed with way too much light.

There is also a mod out there to turn off the tag lights when in reverse which really helps the issue from the reports, though I have not tried it.

Yes, it doesn't wash it out and actually provides more light. I will say that my Opt 7 light bar failed just after the warranty expired and they wouldn't assist me. They blamed my wiring, and not their product. This is 3 months after the warranty expired.

That's a real bummer! I'm actually eyeing the split model someone linked further up in the thread. It's a little cheaper and not having to remove it to get to the spare winch is appealing. It's well reviewed on Amazon.

Interesting, I may look into that one as a replacement. I actually attached the lightbar with 3M velcro so I could remove it if I needed access to the spare. Thanks for the info!

HERE is a link to it for ya! I figure I'll attach it with the 3M Dual Lock stuff the other folks here were talking about, so if it fails it's an easy replacement.

Im looking at the OPT7 48 inch myself, has anyone had to use the TOW package module. I was hoping to use
just the 7PIN to 4 PIN adapter harness. I was told by a rep. that I needed the TOW package module also.
I see many folks just using the 7 PIN to 4 PIN harness, can i still my 4 PIN for my trailer and the LED tailgate lights
not interrupting the use of my Trailer plug?
    Thanks Folks

I used the curt 7 pin adapter and everything was then hidden behind the bumper. I towed a Uhaul trailer and just plugged it in normally to factory trailer plug. Worked with zero issues. I'm not sure what the tow package module is...

Do you have a backup camera? Don’t know why this would matter but that was there excuse for it.

    Yep, backup camera as well.

I followed this video for the installation and he mentions the tow adapter so the truck doesn't think it has a trailer installed. I didn't use one and didn't have an problems.

Yep I watched the same video. I did read on a opt7 link that 2019 and later needed the module for GMC/TUNDRA/TACO/ and RAM SINCE IM 2018 I’m gonna give it a run without the module and if I need it I will order it.
    Thanks for the info.

Exactly what I did in2017 within 2 or 3 week of buying my Taco. I have towed many times and had no issues whatsoever with or with a trailer.

The one note I will give is that the silicone that fills the u-channel for the light bar will hold on to dirt beyond a normal washing making it look a bit dull and brown-ish. I have found a quick wipe with a rag wet with alcohol every 2 or 3 months extracts the dirt nicely.

Waiting on the light bar to come in. I’m gonna try and leave enough of the opening for the jack tool to let the spare down, may have to enlarge the opening to achieve this? Thanks for all the advice folks. Always open to suggestions!
