Truck struggles to turn on. Sounds like it doesn’t want to but then it does. I checked the battery and terminals all good there. Any idea what it could be? Starter?

Did you do a load test on the battery or just checked voltage with a multimeter?

What year is the truck? How old is the battery? Is there any corrosion under the battery positive terminal cover?

did you install any electrical mods?

Likely a battery. 1 month or 7 years, it really doesnt matter, they can always fail.

Local part stores test them on site.

Sounds like the battery might be bad, even if it tests as being ok.

If you are still under warranty, see if Toyota will give you a free battery. I got a new free battery at 33 months into my warranty. No electrical mods on my truck so hopefully Toyota does not try to blame your fog lights.

Seems like the OEM battery average lifespan is 3 years.

Going on 40 months on my Toyota replacement battery. My Daughter's Scion battery is coming up on 7 years. I was going replace it because of age, but it fires right up even after sitting in freezing temps for a week. I guess Toyota batteries are hit or miss.

I tend to see a lot of them fail for people who don't do longer trips. My truck is still on the stock battery from late 2016. But I also drive 90 miles per day for work.

You can try turning your headlights on with the truck off. With a mult-meter measure the voltage after a couple minutes of this. If its lower than 11.7 volts the battery is weak, and needs replacing.

I totally misread the title of this thread. I thought the OP meant he was starting trouble :)

OP, glad a new battery did the trick. Yes we are good people but we love making people spend money on stuff they never realized they needed :) :)
