Can I get advice: My wife’s car is in for service and they are recommending some different things… I don’t know how legit they are. She has a Honda CRV, 22,600 miles. They are recommending changing brake fluid, diff and fuel induction cleaning. The diff fluid has not been changed, I don’t know if this is really necessary, nor the fuel induction cleaning. Advice?

Go with the recommended Honda CRV maint for ~22600 miles, likely found in the manual. :)

I would ask them to see failed tests of brake fluid - 26,000 miles is crazy low for brake fluid to be bad enough (moisture level, copper ppm) to change unless there's a leak in your system or the reservoir cap has been taken off and left off frequently, and changing diff fluid at 26000 miles is ridiculous. Use in a truck most people won't do it 'till 40,-60,000 miles.

Edit: Read up on the fuel induction cleaning - apparently those Honda engines run so clean, people don't bother until 90k miles.

Brake fluid degrades with time as well. How old is the CRV? Toyota's maintenance booklet says to replace it every 3 years.

For diff fluid go by whatever the Honda maintenance booklet says.
