Put a pretty gnarly gouge in a tire about 100 miles from home with no spare. It made it home, but I went ahead and bought a 5th matching wheel and some used KM2 for spares. I put some rubber cement and a patch on the gouged tire and i think it’s fine to make a spare out of

With unlimited money- long travel suspension all over again (with a better rear end than i currently have). Long travel just isn’t reasonable for most people

Considering money- a good set of wheels and tires. I got these BFGs and Methods as i think my 4th or 5th set of wheels and tires. I’d go Methods right out of the gate, BFG are unbelievable offroad but they have lots of flaws (mainly pieces of tread being destroyed) so I would give Toyo a look.

Long travel is a dream at this point but man it looks like a blast. Good input on the tires

Since last post- new headlights, hood pins, realigned hood/bumper/fenders/grille so hopefully the wind can’t get under the hood anymore. Finally put the splash guards back in the fenders after 6 years of sitting in my tool box. Bought a box of plastic clips and have been putting them anywhere they need to be replaced. Had a receiver hitch put in to be able to use a winch, completely redid my interior (details in first post). Got traction boards mounted with pins on the bedside, spare tire bolted in. This past weekend did valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, coil packs, oil change, steering boots. This week i have wiring coming to completely redo all of it for aftermarket stuff, adding onboard air from my train horn compressor, onboard pressurized water, power outlet in the bed and working on getting stuff mounted correctly. Also gotta replace catalytic converters and O2 sensors for P0420 code now that i live in a place that tests emissions

Got the onboard water 99% done today, just gotta seal the hose into the container and run the electricity. Can’t upload a video so here’s a screenshot. Just a 12v pump mounted to a 5 gallon jug. Has a hose into the jug with a filter and 5/8 nut around it to hold it to the bottom. Then the outlet hose has a trigger sprayer. I am very surprised it will spray about 25 feet

Got light bar and pods rewired cleanly. Added a second circuit breaker for winch and rear bed cubby power. Ran 8 gauge wire back to bed cubby, got 12v/USB hooked up, need more wire to get water wired in, waiting on a hose barb to get air project moving. The bolt in the top right corner of cubby is connected to frame ground.

I have no intention of running the winch off the rear 8 gauge wire. Need to get some 2 or 4 for it, but wont be offroading to the point of needing a rear winch anytime soon (probably wont need a front winch anytime soon but its nice to have)

Finished my bed cubby. Water and air are 100% operational. Took it to cars and coffee for high school kids to make snarky comments about how crappy it is but I’ve never been happier with it. New catalytic converter and 02 sensors, still didnt fix my P0420 code so gotta go out of county to get it inspected registered (Austin liberals can go to hell)

Ready for overlanding trip next month

Was in the opposite lane and passed a vehicle fire, sure was nice withy suspension to be able to bail off the highway into the grass to get on the feeder road, loop around. Car fire was too far gone for my 4lb extinguisher when I arrived (I was first one there), but was at least able to contain the grass fire for a few minutes before the FD got there. Only lost about 25 square feet of grass using my extinguisher and onboard water. Also used my traction boards to direct traffic.

Lessons learned- ordered a 10lb extinguisher and mount to put it outside the vehicle and got a 4lb to put back under the seat

Keep my water system full and powered on

Pull over and help someone every once in a while
