I admit that I haven't bought tires in a while and they are for a Toyota Prius. They weren't too, too much. But again, that was a little bit back. I was looking at tires for the Tacoma, and it seems tire prices have went up *a lot*. Is 265/75/16 considered a big tire compared to something that would go on a Camry or Prius? I don't own a Tacoma, yet, so I was looking at TCO. I found one Tacoma for sale and the tires were $200+ a piece (Falken Wildpeak A/T though, so I expected higher.)

The cheapest I found was $652 for four, mounted. I don't remember the brand.

These tires are substantially bigger than anything that would go on a Prius or Camry.

Depending, it's approx. a 31.5-.7" tire. That used to be a "standard" size that the Tacoma's came with. Gas mileage needs reduced that to a 30".

Theres defintely a lot more rubber into a truck tire that size vs a passenger car tire so it's going to cost more. 265/75/16 is a pretty standard size among mid size and full size 1/2 ton trucks and SUVs so they're actually reasonably priced when it comes to a truck tire since they're made in relatively large volumes.

Now if you don't like the price of those, heres a bit of perspective to those that drive lifted trucks/Jeeps.... A lot of car tires will get you 50k-80k miles. Truck tires, many agressive tires go about 30k, and the higher milage street tires will go 50-60k usually. My 37x12.50R17 Mud terrains I run go for $431/ea + tax/mounting and only last around 30K miles. And I buy a set of 5 for a matching spare. Total OTD is right around $2500 and thats every couple years @ 15K miles a year driven. :bananadead:

How do you tell what the largest tire can fit on a stock rim? I'm trying to turn my Civic into a "rally" car and want some spacers, a lift, and some aggressive tires.

That is what’s considered by old timers as a +1 tire size.

Just a tiny bump up over stock.

Not big, not small, just a slightly taller option.

About an inch taller tire only gives you about a half an inch more ground clearance.

Oddly for the Tacomas it actually corrects the Speedo/Odo to be more accurate than stock.

When you get your Tacoma you can run it without any issues should you choose to.
