I hadn't caught this thread till just now! Arroyo Grande is home. The only pic I have of my newer rig is from early August right after we got it sitting at Lopez Lake where there should be about 18' of water! The truck has definitely transformed from that pic thanks exclusively to this frikkin' site!

Santa Maria Here! There is also West Camino Cielo down by Santa Barbara. Fun little trail. Few tight squeezes and awesome views.

How the hell did I miss all these new posts?

@OZ TRD That's the spot! Did you fly that pic by drone or tele it from the peninsula hill? Glad to see they had taken down most of the barrier fencing. Last time I was up on that side, it was after the rains and it was all blocked off!

I'm about to get back on my daily morning bass fishing fuckery with my boat up there. Ocean season is done so it's time to transition! This is a great time of year and we still have water to launch in.

I used to live up there and tbh never went through that way - it was a little unnerving when getting to the base checkpoint!

Yep. I've camped in those two campsites down right near the entrance to Hunter Liggett, Nacimiento is one and Ponderosa is the second, IIRC. In good water years, the river is really bitchin running through there. In the 40 years I have been up here, I have driven that road in a truck/car maybe 4 or 5 times. I've been on it on my Sport/Tour moto more like 100x.

Nope - just warning signs (nothing saying through travel wasn't permitted, but that you were subject to being searched).

Geeez, you just reminded me. The first time I went up there was from the 101 side (Jolon/Lockwood). My GF (now wife) and I went camping for the first time at the Nacimiento camp. When I got to the gate at FHL, they wanted ID and insurance info to pass through. I wasn't aware that was necessary and I didn't have my insurance info in my truck. This was like the late 80's. It was already evening as we drove up after work on a Friday to spend the weekend. It was either turn around and drive back to Atascadero to 41 and then out to Morro Bay and all the way back up Hwy 1 and N-F Road over the top or go home or get a citation for not having proof of insurance. I took door #3 when I found out right before we turned around to leave that it was like a $25 citation but through the Feds! It was worth the ticket!

Today, have your paperwork at the ready to go through. I've been through where no one checked anything and you just drove thru the gate but they've been having LOTS and LOTS of maneuvers up there and the MOA is always hot so when there is such base activity, REALLY mind your shit because they'll pull you over for breaking 25 mph and give you the serious business including searches as mentioned. Anything you get popped for is on a Federal Level there. Not like dealing with city cops and getting an nice little envelope to send your bail in.
