on my second gen i have them wedged between the seat and the door (both drivers and passenger) secured, (the shape of the door plastic helps with it not becoming a projectile) free and very handy

I moved mine from the cab to the bed after I accidentally set it off drunkenly rummaging through my cab camping in the dunes. Plus its much quicker to access on it's quick release mount on the drivers side bedrail than it was buried in the cab under my dog platform.

I have a wedge camper so theft isn't a concern.

I use one of those Bracketeer mounts in my Taco. Looks like this (except in a Taco not a Scooby lol)

Mounting an extinguisher in the bed was my first “mod” I can open the cab side of my Diamond back cover and grab it quickly.

I had mine behind a rear seat but it bent the handle. I moved it to the bed and strapped it down by the storage box. Did great until somebody at PepBoys set it off when I was getting an old change and my tires rotated and balanced. I still can't figure out how they managed to do it. Covered my deer blind and everything else I had in there with fine blue powder. Was a real pain to clean out. I haven't returned to Pepboys since then.

Not sure if you talking size it takes up or volume of extinguishing agent. It’s a little garage one link. I will eventually put a bigger or second one. Made my own mount and put rubber quick fist clamps on it.

Also a few others said they had em go off in their car, I had one go off in the trunk of my old car while I was driving at first I thought my car was on fire. Huge mess to clean and never got all that yellow powder out of the trunk.
