I had a similar situation with my ebrake boot fitting as well. As mentioned, the bracket is too flexible to seat correctly in the tabs. And the bracket plus the leather make it thicker than the stock vinyl boot so that also causes issues with fit. I had trouble with mine and reached out to redline. By the time I heard back and discussed the issue a bit, I gave the install another shot and it is seated well enough for my liking. I gave them some feedback and told them I’d let them know if I have further problems.

Overall, the shift boot is awesome as others have said. Ebrake is a bit of a let down due to the difficulty/finickiness of install. Looks great though. I got them both to match my katzkin seat covers and they do that job well.

 

So you opt. For the add on bracket/wire? Would swapping with the oem be better. That’s exactly the reason I now am looking into this, because I just installed katzkin in the front and you can really see a difference in the boots. I have the black/black standard and planned the same for the boots. What is your seats boots colors? Pics

Swapping the OE wire is probably best, but I didn't think that I could do it properly. I might say, if you really want it, to order without it and source your own. Esp as it ships flat without the one bend.

Oh yeah. Even with the negatives, they are heads and shoulders above the handle mess.

 

I would still reuse the OEM wire. Thanks for reviving my thread.

 

I think if I were to do it again, I’d try the stock “bracket” and see if that worked better. I may end up doing that down the road if the redline bracket doesn’t stay.

I got the black leather, perforated inserts, red stitching for the seats and perforated black leather with red stitching for the two boots. They match well. I’ll try to get some pictures later today.

Here is a picture as promised. One thing that bothered me to no end on this truck were the cheap looking shift and ebrake boots. I feel it looks 100% better now.

 

My biggest beef with the stock (at least in my truck) is how baggy the boot on the brake is. When I clean my truck I feel like I'm hunting for crumbs in Rosie O'Donnell's folds....
Do these ones get rid of the excess bagginess?

 

You could tuck the excess leather inside the console. I dont have a picture of mine, but that's whatc do

I went with the red. Matches pretty well to the katzkins red on my seats

I had a horrible experience with these guys last year. I sent them Katzskin leather that I purchased because I wanted it to match my seats exactly. The person I was dealing with over email was very nice and said they could do it no problem. After I sent them my leather, first they charged me extra because they said it was held up in customs. Then they charged me extra because of Covid. Then they charged me more to ship it back because of Covid. Then they wanted more to send the left over leather back, which they agreed to do initially. So I told them I would not be sending any more money and they said they wouldn't ship back the remaining leather. This went on for a few months because, you guessed it, Covid. When I finally got my product, they actually did send the left over leather but the shifter was for a manual even after I sent them all the pics they asked for and very clearly stating it was automatic. They also put cheap black material on my steering wheel cover when it was supposed to be all leather which I sent them plenty. Lastly, the ebrake boot is too big making it all wrinkled. The only part that looks good is the center console lid cover.

I just finally got around to having the pieces installed as I was so disgusted with the crooks at redlinegoods. I contacted leatherseats.com to see if I can get another shifter made but they said they didn't have the pattern and would check to see if they could make it with the boot that came out of the truck I would send them. Not looking good. If any of you know any place else that makes these, I'd appreciate that info so I can FINALLY have my interior finished.

 

I ordered on 12/31ish and mine already shipped and is in customs in NY. See how long it takes to clear that. Got charcoal alcantara with tan stitching for my manual. As others have said, the OEM shift boots are garbage and I’ve missed alcantara since I sold my bmw.

 

Thinking about ordering the shift and parking boots. Should I leave the armrest oem? Or go ahead and match it to the boots? Hows the fitment on all those boots and armrest?

 

@tonered has the armrest and "regrets" it. I'd recommend the shift and brake boots only.

 

I did not enjoy installing it. The fit around the lever was hard to do. And, the foam was way too soft, which you only figure out after it is reinstalled.

There was someone offering to cover the consoles in the BST section for a very reasonable price. I have been thinking of going that route to fix it up.



Also note that the wire ('bracket' option) in the parking brake boot is much more ductile than the Toyota one, and arrived flat. So, it has to be formed and worked so that it will clip in and stay there. I'd hate to try and salvage the Toyota part and am thankful that I didn't have issues with the Redline part after a lot of initial futzing around.
