I have a 2020 Tacoma SR, I’m retired and 69 years old. Love my truck but I live in the mountains and drive the mountain roads at night. The kind of roads with no shoulder and if you make a mistake your down the mountain. I’ve searched the forum, Amazon and it’s all confusing to me. I just want a brighter high & low beam bulbs that are plug and play at a reasonable price. Can someone give me a suggestion of what to buy?

Hella H9 high beam bulbs for the low beam. Just need to clip a small bit to fit, as per that thread

That’s all too complicated for me, I need an easier choice.

Your SR headlights require H11 halogen bulbs for the low beams & H9 halogen bulbs for the high beams as per your owner's manual. That couldn't be simpler nor more straightforward. They're available at any reasonably stocked auto parts store. If you're afraid to drive down the mountain order them online.

You don't have to trim H9 just tilt them right and they go right in.

The ones in this link come highly rated. They were reviewed very favorably in the headlight bulb thread. These were formerly the GE megalight 130, they just changed the name to Tungsram. I have been using them the past few years and they are a good upgrade. Just remember that with any high performance bulb they don't have a long service life, but they also do not cost a lot. Probably took a total of two minutes to switch them out

One of mine failed after a year. Friends fan went out after roughly a year as well. They weren't bad while they worked though.

Wow that sucks to hear. I wonder if either the quality went down after I got them, or if maybe their quality control isn't that great.

    for the OP

easiest for the low-beam is a straight up quality H11 replacement, plug and play
Tungsram Megalight +130 H11 (in post above)
or Tungsram Platinum (Amazon.com: Tungsram H11-55NHP/BP2 Nighthawk Platinum Automotive Bulb, 2-pack : Automotive)
note that these won't last as long

Phillips H9 is minimally more complicated to put in low-beam (cut tab or remove green plastic), but seems you want simple as possible.

your stock highbeams are already as good as it gets in our housings.

BUT, for side visualization get wider SAE fogs for edge of road visualization, or dedicated lights. Seems you are on a road where no-one else will be.
