Got a call on Thursday that my car would be ready on Friday.

Friday I got a call from the service manager that on the way back from the body shop he cracked the windows and the passenger front window broke and wouldn't operate.:bananadead:

So, it's in the shop still until that gets solved.

going on week 3 at the VW dealer. I'm not annoyed, I'm glad the car will have a pile of new parts, I'm just so bored driving the jetta. 40 mpg is nice, but I miss turbo noises and some power. Not to mention heated seats as it's winter now.

So, you’ll also have a car with one untinted window. OR, they’ll do the right thing and put the cheapest, crappiest tint on it that they can find. Lol!

Service manager sent these photos today:

He is awesome. He went ahead and washed it through the car wash to test for leaks and even directly sprayed the door that had the leak with a pressure washer to test. He then waxed it for me.

Stoked to finally pick it up tomorrow!

Yeah I'm really happy that I did.

I'll post a pic of all the work that was done while they had it. between all the work they did before I picked it up (spark plugs, DSG service, etc) and this, I'm sure they've gotten to know my car well

Tossed some rear spacers on to eliminate the sunk look

Car has been great so far this winter!

The only issue is the rear passenger door leaked again.

Seal on the body is soaked

    Note how dry it is

In the cold I think it shrank back to its normal deformed self

    46E27F98-7256-4710-B912-DC3E72459569.jpg

My new theory is under previous ownership someone tried to break in or something and pryed the door from the top, leaving the dents and deforming the window frame and seal.

Dropping it off at the end of this week or early next week

Gaff tape to help push the seal in

Hopefully it gets fixed relatively quickly. I still love this car lol

Your theory is probably correct. Used to drive a tow truck a long time ago and I doubt much has changed. We always attempted to get in on the passenger side, and a rear door if available. You can probably guess some of the reasoning. Also, the go-to tool to get into cars is somewhat barbaric. Basically, you used some method (wedge, air bladder, etc) to pry the back corner of the door away from the car and reach a long hook into the car to grab the switch, handle, or lock. You can imagine there were some ham-fisted dudes out there cave-manning their way into cars.

yeah it was enough to dent the door and I bet that's why the previous owner actually traded it in. this leak problem. I want to peel back the inner seal on the body as well and see if that was damaged. There's 100% a gap there (at least in the cold) and I believe that's what's causing it. Worst case VW buys me a new door and paints and installs it :)

Dropping the car off at the dealer again today.

This time they got me an atlas so at least I'll have awd for the winter.

Hopefully I don't need it for very long.

Even after photo evidence the dealer doesn't think it's the door and think it's a clogged drain and asked to charge me $100 to clean the drains. They were cleaned in July last year and have never been parked under a tree.

The photos above SHOW the headliner isn't wet and water is getting in through the top of the door seal.

I stood firm that it's the door leaking from the top seal so their having another go at it.

Also, if the pano leaks eventually I'll just do this:

I never use the moon roof so I'm tempted to do this: https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/leaky-sunroof-fix-workaround.564892/
