    Anyone know what's involved in removing and properly reinstalling these bolts?

    I've got an appointment in a couple weeks to have this issue and more worked on, but it's really driving me absolutely nuts and I'd like to fix asap if it's easy enough.

    You'll need to pull the shackle out of the hanger and re-install/re-orientate that bolt.

    Who did the install?

    you could also cut that bolt back about a quarter inch if you’re feeling lazy. But yeah it’s in backwards and the right way to do it is to drop the shackle and put the bolt in the other way

    I'd try jacking the rear end up from the frame first. The shackle moves forward as the suspension is unloaded so you might be able to get it to swing forward enough to get the bolt back in without undoing the lower bolt on the hanger.

    Can probably get it out with just a box wrench on the nut and backing out the bolt but might still need to remove the lower bolt to get the upper one in right. (obviously all of this is with the truck and axle supported on jack stands)

    If that doesn't get you enough space you'll have to remove the bolt attaching it to the hanger first. What probably happened was the shop installed the shackle on the leaf spring before installing it on the hanger. That would explain why the bolt on the hanger is in the correct orientation while the one on the leaf spring is backwards.

    Either way it isn't rocket surgery, just undoing a bolt and flipping it around. Might need to undo an extra bolt to get it out.

    I made the same mistake one time doing some rear end work. I immediately noticed it and it took all of 10 min to fix.

    Drop the spare tire, disconnect the lower shock connection at the axle on that side of the truck. Jack up the truck and put a jackstand under the frame. Remove both shackle bolts and lower the jack so that side of the axle starts to droop. To get the bolt back in the correct way you will have to lower the axle quite a bit, make sure you don't go too far as you may run into the limit that the brake cables and abs wiring will allow.

    oof..i couldn't imagine paying a shop to do the work and have that be the result, then needing to wait a couple weeks to remedy it.
    That noise/grinding from the bolt against the frame should have been obvious when they drove it from the shop to the parking lot.

    Cool cool. My main concern was that the spring had tension or something that would make this more complicated or dangerous.

    Yep. So poorly done it almost feels malicious. They also charged 50% over their quote without any warning when I picked it up.

    Good call on disconnecting the shock to let it droop out more if needed.

    That's a fair concern. Leaf springs aren't like coil springs though. There isn't any tension in them if they're unloaded (at least when we're talking about an assembled leaf pack and not disassembling a pack into individual leaves but you don't need to do that for this job).

    I read about this in your build thread but that super sucks that you paid for them to half ass it like that.

    Geeze, to have that issue on a simple job and be overcharged without warning. I'll be sure to never go there. I think I maybe contacted them once to install sliders and the quote was ridiculous.

    Yes and then company logos over that. I feel like topographic patterns will be the new raptor lights soon. The point its attention for advertising so we will see

    Ended up getting the Prinsu resealed by Michaels Toyota and *knock on wood* the leak has gone away. A few good nights of rain so far and no leaks. Appreciate everyone's suggestions.

    This was the temporary solution that ended up saving my sanity until Mule was able to fix things up right. They went ahead and flipped the bolt correctly and replaced it with uncut hardware, now the truck rides like a dream (again.)

    Thanks for the suggestions guys. :thumbsup:

    Hit n miss with Michaels on work, sometimes they nail it and sometimes they are out in left field.
    Give it a few more weeks when we get soaking rains after the cold nights, you'll know if the reseal was done correctly.

    I ordered the Spidertrax 1.25 so I’m just waiting for them. My question is about the locktite. Everyone says put some on and then in about 100 miles retorque them again. If it takes 2 days to get my 100 miles wouldn’t retorquing them break the bond of the loctite making it useless?
