Cracked a rib torquing my balancer bolt.

Manual, in gear, e brake on, loaded up the drive train had a lot of torque pushing back from the twist induced, my oily hand slipped on the torque wrench handle and the drive line torque unloaded into my side with the torque wrench shaft.

    Good times.

Breathing hurt for a good two weeks.

I used the wood screw method of seal removal but I have a good seal puller now.

Don't forget to put a little grease on the lip of the seal and I used Loc-Tite 573 on the outer side of the seal for good measure.

Another recommendation for going OEM seals.

Oh man sounds like it hurt. What kind of grease would you recommend. Also by the lip of the seal do you mean the inner part?

Yeah the inner part I really like this stuff from Honda been using it on the inner surfaces of seals bearings and O rings for years and even it's intended purpose clutch splines and pivots really good stuff very thick kind of grease.

Ah cool thanks. Just wondering is the grease necessary, or is it just to aid in getting it to fit in? Also if that’s the case would there be any harm is just rubbing a little engine oil on the outside with my finger instead of using grease?

Oil is the traditional method I just go the extra mile, I feel the green Loc-Tite helps seal better and make them easier to get out down the road and the grease I find helps to condition the seal some.

Not necessary, fresh clean oil is just fine, I'm just extra.

If there's a better way than good enough that's the way I try to do it.

Sorry to keeping asking questions, but I was wondering if you guys feel that there is a need for a puller/installer kit to get the pulley on and off of the shaft? I see a lot of those at like autozone and stuff but it doesn’t seem necessary. Does it slide on and off the the shaft easily? I’m just trying to get all the tools I might need so I’m not stranded needing a tool.

Step 4.)I had to get a small 3-jaw puller rented from the local parts store to get the pulley off the shaft, its on there just tight enough that I couldn't wriggle it off by hand.

    Read the first link.

I dont think you'll need a puller. Mine wiggled right out. You can lightly tap it with a rubber mallet on the edges to get it loose. Also, check the back side of the damper while it's out. When I looked at mine the rubber was disintegrated so I got a new one from Oreilly's for about $90.
