Hello new member. Love all the info, knowledge and advice this forum has to offer and can't wait to put it to use.

I recently purchased a 2016 Tacoma, 4x4 with the 2.7 I4 and it did not come with cruise or intermittent wipers. Thanks to this forum I have found how to add both and defiantly planning to do so quickly.

My question/concern is that when I called my local Toyota dealership to order the new cover for the side of the steering wheel w/ the cruise switch hole, the parts guy told me that the 4 cylinder trucks did not come prewired for cruise or intermittent wipers. Does anyone know if this is true? I have search and search and cannot seem to find any truth to that statement. Due to lack of time, I have not been able to actually look to see if the plug for the cruise control is behind the airbag on the steering wheel. I sure hope the parts guy is wrong, as I would like to have cruise and intermittent wipers. Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd say you should make a trip to the Parts Guy at Toyota and view the same part files he is looking at.

I have found those guys are friendly and willing to help identify the correct parts and if the parts will fit your truck. There is no benefit for them to refuse a sale or sell something that won't fit.

Easier to just pop open the cover and see for yourself if it’s prewired. A 3 minutes job

The intermittent wiper should just be a stalk replacement, I know nothing of the cruise control though. My 2019 I4 had cruise control but no intermittent wiper when purchased. Replacing the wiper stock was the first "mod" I did.

I have 2016 2.7L AT 4x4 SR5 since new. It came with cruise control and intermittent wipers and both controls are on Right side of steering column. I believe wipers above the shorter lever for cruise. The instrument panel has a light indicator for cruise control. Had to have been wired since it came that way. Great model truck BTW. 55k miles, 6 years, no recalls or problems.
