For an extra 5k off I'd take the scuffed one all day I think  did you ever have any issues caused by the damage?

    I added a bolt once...

NO.... When OP goes to sell his 2016 someone is going to run a Carfux and it will show up as an accident...and it will be less desirable to sell.
How do I know? Brand new 2006 Tacoma, less than 100 miles. Some less than desirable gentleman slowly rolled into my rear bumper at a light, and laughed. It was a minor ding and I made his insurance company buy a bumper...$540

There were six police officers having coffee right next to my truck. They took care of Mr. Laughy but upon trying to sell in 2014, everyone pulled a Carfux and it said "ACCIDENT"!!!!! No explanation just ACCIDENT... it was a fucking DING... less than a quarter size DING... ACCIDENT!!!!! Fuck Carfax...

OP, get as much diminished value as you can... and fuck the fucker who rolled into my 2006 Tacoma...

    <-- off to make a drink :)

Had a fuel fitting come loose under the bed that was spraying. They fixed it. Nothing mechanical.

It should be sop for the fool that did the deed to have to owe you some sort of something. Possibly have this person be your butler for a month, or follow you around while you walk your dog and that person can pick up the shit. Or something of that nature. It’s not cruel and unusual, it’s just right.

Id appreciate a business to not crash into my 40+k$ piece of equipment that is going to take time and energy out my my life to get fixed. A 20 dollar dinner / Amazon package is FAR different.

This also speaks HIGHLY to the carelessness of the employees at the dealership and the fact that these same careless employees are likely to be changing the oil on vehicles.... NO THANKS.

I literally watched a tech changing the oil in my truck (it was in for leaf spring TSB @ 2500 miles) almost start it with no oil in it with the service manager STANDING RIGHT THERE. Luckily i was there (walking the service manager through how to perform the measurements for the TSB cus he couldnt wrap his head around how to use the digital angle finder.... that i had to provide because he ordered the wrong one).

Unless its an ASBOLUTE NESSESSITY for me to have a dealership work on a vehicle i steer WAY clear of those slimy places.

If I was the OP trying to sell this truck down the road and someone whined about a minor parking lot boo boo on a body panel that the dealership fixed like it never even happened, and they tried to lowball my price because of it, I’d tell them to pound sand and buy another truck. Tacomas are about the easiest things in the world to sell, so there will always be someone else looking to buy it. Just let em fix it and move on with your life.

That's why I said about $800 PLUS paint and labor. But you're right. I didn't also say that it doesn't include the bedside decal. It doesn't include a few smaller braces as well like the one at the front of the bed that I mentioned, but that doesn't affect the final price that much.

No it would make me more mad than most. Like really mad. However, I would convey that and then move on. Because at that point there’s nothing to be done but to get it fixed and me the fuck out of there. So, yes fix it and give it back to me so I can never see you again

Let's look at it differently, this isn't the first time this has happened. I've seen someone run a truck through a closed garage door and back out of service bay and damage the front end because they didn't allow for the swing at a dealership. It happened on private property it won't come up on carfax. It will be handled no differently then a car that came in damaged in transit. Expect a new box side panel an rear door skin. Maybe for intertainment you could talk them in to letting you watch them yell at the person who did it.

I left an 8" long bar and the ball in the receiver after towing the trailer. Not on purpose. It was dark and cold and raining.
Noticed that people are giving me more space at the red lights now. Nobody wants to roll up and rip their radiator out.

Sorry, missed that. Probably close. Mine was 3200 including bumper and tail light. Think i got about 1200 for the bumper because it just covered my RCI bumper.

@shakerhood ended up with a deal on a brand new truck after the dealer fucked up his 2nd Gen; His was in a lot worst condition that yours though, not totaled but with structural damage to the cab. I have a preferred body shop (the guy who fixed my truck after a drunk driver hit me in 2015), and I would insist that my local dealer let me use him if this happened to my truck while it was in their care; If they gave me the runaround, I have friends who are really good lawyers.

Discount Tire did a similar 'job' on my truck, except with a damaged cab corner. Younger kid at his first job and Im sure he learned his lesson. They called me minutes after it happened and promised to make it right. I was offered repair at one of their recommended facilities or one of my choosing. I spent an afternoon going around getting estimates and ended up going with a mom and pop shop that estimated worst case scenario (replacing entire box side). The estimate was forwarded to Discounts claims company and they cut me a check; the work ended up not being as much so the rest was pocketed.

Now, if this has not been discussed, maybe seek estimates from other body repair facilities. No one says you have to get it repaired by them, but they are damn sure on the hook for the bill.

Absolutely worth it to pursue diminishing value claim. A few phone calls for thousands of dollars seems like an easy decision to me.

Out of curiosity to everyone who is saying to demand diminished valve payment, has it occured to people that demanded thousands after the damage is already fixed is contribute to one of the many reasons labor costs keep going up? To be clear I am most certainly not saying dealerships are struggling financially by any means.

Same as people deciding to rip off insurance companies who then raise everybody's rates to compensate, granted I doubt they would lower rates if people stopped with the bullshit lawsuits.
