Do our trucks know what gear we are in and use a different ecu map based on that?

Nope, auto trucks know but there are no mapping differences it's just so they can retard timing during a shift. You're just hitting different cells in the same map because of load differences

Map switching is a pretty fancy trick for an ECU family made in the 90s haha. I think the only different map it posses is the cold start enrichment map

Yeah figured, it just behaves a lot different in the upper gears. I hit a wall in 4th at 3k yesterday and couldn't get passed it. AFar of 10 and timing dive bombing to 5*. Third gear I can push through the trouble spot but 4th just, couldnt. It's making great power in these temps at least.

Lot of load at a spot of inadequate fuel adjustment sounds like, dick with your 7th

I had that issue in Frank if you recall. If fact most the time I basically slowed down. My solution was removing the 7th injector. :notsure: ran better but of course pinged like hell.

10 is pretty damn rich though. So you might be over fueling it. Timing is probably getting wonky too

I don't have the tools to adjust the map otherwise I would.

At that afr I'm assuming too much fuel?
Yeah I luckily don't ping, which I prefer. Timing is the issue too, if it can keep above 15* of timing it pulls hard.

I'd dial it up to 11.3 or so, shouldn't ping at that and the timing should want to stay up. Can preemptively dial your timing down a notch with the 7th. I have the software for your 7th on a virtual machine that you can run on any computer.

I can send you a tuning laptop.. we have one with all the tuning platforms we keep at the shop. But really if you have any laptop at home I can walk you through loading the virtual machine and you can keep that

I'll have to see what cables I need to hook up. I may have a computer to use.
Well, I do have our old PC I could toss in with a monitor for a day of tuning......hmmmm
