I'll admit I consider myself to be smarter-than-average when it comes to solving problems, but it wasn't until this morning (after owning the truck for almost 2 years) that I realized I can see the radio screen and back up camera image a lot better if I simply turn off the headlights.

I think there is a setting to keep the head unit bright all the time as an option. But it's super bright at night

You can change between day and night mode...day mode is definitely very bright at night, but easy enough to switch it temporarily if needed

Must be sunny where you are. I have yet to notice it but if it comes down to it, I got mirrors ;)

Agreed though. The whole dim and backlight thing is terrible on these trucks. Actually one of very few complaints I have about this truck. Should be brighter during the day and still backlit, then dimmer at night. Instead, we are forced to find a medium so we can see during the day without being blinded at night. The adjustment being the odometer button is too sketchy to adjust on the fly.

It's strange though, because my families Ram that does it, they keep it on Max brightness all the time. It's blinding when driving at night. Dangerous actually. Their adjustment settings are on the headunit. I had to change it for them because they had no clue it would dim automatically and then they complained about not being able to see it  there is also a knob that controls the brightness off to the side and turning it up all also has the option to turn on cab lights. So, two ways. One in the headunit for the auto dimming and other options about day/night etc etc, and a physical button that's NOT behind the steering wheel.
