ChIp ShOrTaGe is still gonna last through 2022. We're bringing facilities online here in the US we started building in 2020, but it takes about 2 years to build and start producing semi-conductors in a new plant (I sell these plants things)

The [people that issue statements] just issued a wishy-washy "we're the boss of crypto" statement earlier this week, so we'll see how that plays out. Even China making most of crypto mining illegal hasn't curbed demand.


We're fucked, I think, for at least this year, probably through next year. And after that, who knows what manufactured shortage will show up just in time to keep prices high and supply low.

 

Digital/INTEL had a semiconductor manufacturing plant in Hudson, MA that they mothballed because it was too expensive to operate...basically they didn't want to invest "millions of dollars" to upgrade the wafers from 8" to 12" manufacturing...sooo mothball...
I bet that investment would have paid off this year...
