    Here's the thing. You already have most of what you need to hunt. The three biggies are boots, pack, and sleeping bag. Pretty much in that order. Visit sites like Rokslide, Bowsite, Monster Muleys...Great places to get advice. And here as well.

    Fair warning this is just coming from a backpacking point of mind - I haven’t ever went on a backcountry hunt.

    two pairs of gloves might be a bit redundant? Do you often use both? I only ever keep one unless I need a heavy set and lightweight dry fit fingerless set.

    I hate having to suck my brain out through lifestraws. Some other options - Sawyer makes a 2oz kit you squeeze through a straw then drink out of a bottle, Frontier Filter straws are 1oz. I always choose to use Micropur tabs and never get any taste from them. 10 liters per sheet and each sheet is .3oz. Put in water and wait 30 minutes then drink. You won’t have to purify water you boi

    If you don’t find yourself using all the baby wipes you could do 5-10 of these individually packed ones for .25oz each. I keep a couple in my whitetail stuff for an emergency poop or cleaning kit.

    Smartwater bottles are very popular among the ultralight crowd because they are light and durable

    Could drop the flashlight and just keep your phone for backup to the headlamp, my decision would be dictated by the severity of predators in the area

    glad to see the crocs on there - camp shoes are a life saver

    Also a comment on the neoair xlite- I hate them because it sounds like I am sleeping on bubble wrap. This pad is 80$ at REI insulated, mummy shape and I am in love with designs like this because the outside air tubes are wider and it helps keep me on the pad. Non slip bottom as well.

    Yea I carry two headlamps plus my cell phone.

    I’ve got two pairs of gloves. One wool and thin and another pair of insulated gloves.

    I don’t carry crocs on a backcountry hunting trip because typically I get to camp, cook food, then sleep. Backpacking trips where I’m hanging in camp for a bit I certainly pack the crocs. Hunts, i keep sleeping socks in my bag. I never wear them in boots. I slip them on at the end of a day and go to sleep. (I do this on camping trips too but it’s less necessary)

    I’ve never used lifestraws. Just heard good reviews. I’m grateful for the feedback on them. I’ll look into the smart water bottles and the sawyers.

    Gloves. The weight for the additional pair is minimal. While I typically use just my FL fingerless gloves, some mornings my hands just get cold. So I'll throw in the regular FL gloves. Weight and space is minimal

    Ya, the lifestraw is nice for back-up. I've been looking at the Sawyer Squeeze and other similar styles. The drops and tabs are nice, but often the water needs filtered because of junk in the water. I ain't mountain man enough to use my teeth as a strainer.

    Flashlight and headlamp stay. Coming two miles thru blow down and other crap, a phone ain't gonna cut it. I've been on bloodtrails where my flashlight died, cell phone just doesn't cast enough lumens.

    Crocs and baby wipes are mountain gold.

    Saw this and :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    “Harvest” or “Harvested”

    Are you a farmer? Do you own a combine? No? THEN YOU DIDN’T HARVEST A GODDAMNED THING, KYLE. I don’t know where this dumbass phrase came from, but I know why people say it – they don’t want anti-hunters to be mad at them. F**k anti-hunters and f**k you, too, pal. We’re not in the soy bean business; we’re out here to kill critters. I’m sick and tired of feeling like I’m sitting at the first Thanksgiving dinner every time I log onto Instagram. If you want to have a “clean and ethical harvest,” go help your mom with her backyard salsa garden (tell her I said hello, by the way). Stop bending the knee to the “woke” crowd and be proud of your place at the top of the food chain.
