A co-worker of mine, who has a full-size chevy truck, and I are pretty new to the Harrisburg area. I grew up in the northern part of the state, but driving a Ford Taurus I never paid much attention to trails to go off-road! We know that Rausch Creek is just up 81 and is a really good option to go off-roading, but I want to know if anyone on here from PA knows of good trails around here in Central PA? My co-worker has scoped out some State Game land roads just north of Harrisburg in the mountains, just wondering what else is out there!

I guess everyone just goes to Rausch Creek? We want to make a trip up there just seems like it could get expensive, but you know that you will get some quality trails where you won't be trespassing!

Silver Spring Township was cracking down hard regarding off-roading. There are way too many idiots that think their rigs are authorized to terrorize land.

I have a few buddies that go to many different trails (Jeep owners). I can find out with them on the other trails besides R.C.

    Absolutely NOTHING that is legal.

Personally, this forum (and most of its members) don't promote illegal wheeling. Yeah, I know of many spots that I used to go....10 years ago. Any of those places are also open to everyone else including drug dealers, druggies, illegal hunters, illegal dumpers, people partying, etc. Nothing worse than riding around on trails and hearing shotguns going off not far in the distance. SCREW THAT!!

    Rausch Creek is SAFE!!

Nope, none in the harrisburg area. I grew up in middletown and there were nothing but posted signs everywhere around. I remember in high school getting chased out of a field by a crazy guy in a chevy pickup because we disregarded the posted signs...

I grew up in Potter County, where just driving on dirt township and state roads, was almost off-roading. At least in my Parents Explorer, it was! My friend and I have been talking about going to Rausch Creek once the weather gets warmer. I'm itching to get out there and test my truck out!

Rausch Creek is very cool!! Get on their forum.....look for the OPEN/Green rides. There's also hold special events too (April 2nd trail fest).

    http://www.rc4x4.org/rcforum/

I haven't been there in a couple years but I've been there atleast 100 times in the past. It's legal. It's safe and its fun!
