I have a 2022 Tacoma Off Road 4x4 with the factory head unit (not JBL) and was wondering if anyone here might know how or where I can acquire a amp harness so I do not have to cut any of my speaker wires behind the HU to install an amp. I found this one but do not know if it will work for the 22 models. If it is made for the 21, does anyone know if it will also work on the 2022's? Thanks.

@Hayward I believe 2020 is when Toyota changed the wiring on the Entune H/U. Not 100% sure, more like 80%. I’ll see if you can get some help. @destin_meeks can you help?

Sorry about that, looks like they are for their line output converter, your first option is probably the easier set up

Looks like the right plugs but wouldn't connect to my amp that way. I'd have to cut it in half to connect the wires to the harness that came with my amp. I like the price though! What year is yours? I found out the HU is the same for 2020-2022 (non JBL).

Cutting it in half to create a T harness is exactly what I did. Out of the radio, down to the amp and then from the amp back to the speaker plug behind the radio

What did you do about power for the amp? Connect to the battery and the ground to the body somewhere?

Yes, I put the amp under the driver seat and ran the power wire out to the battery and then there is a factory ground point I used under the seat.

Well I had already ordered the harness from Taco Tunes which arrived today. But their harness has 10 wires for the speakers and my factory wiring only has 8. TT wire harness has 4 purple wires. I would still have to connect the wires from TT harness to the wires that came with my amp which also only has 8 wires. Anyone know if you just connect certain purple wires together? Or is the harness you got from Amazon only have 8 wires, which in case it does, I'll just go buy that one.

I believe the extra wires are for a sub input.

Not sure. A purple and white are connected together and another purple and white the same, each going into seperate pins on the connector (harness from TT).

I have heard of other harnesses doing similar on 2020+ Tacomas. The door 6x9 has 4 wires going to it, and for some harnesses, you cut the 2 loops on the door wiring to have the dash and door separate. This allows for aftermarket components to be used with the factory wiring. It doesn’t, however, attenuate frequencies that each speaker shouldn’t get by removing the crossover from the system.

I didn't want to have to cut any of the factory wiring at all. It appears those two purple wires connected with the white wires on TT's harness are for something else as I did not use them. I ended up just connecting all the colored wires together from TT harness to amp harness and left those two purple ones not connected to anything. Got it all together, installed, and everything works as it should. Sounds WAY better with the amp. Much better than just the factory head unit as my highs and mids were distorted easily. Amp has pretty much cleared that up and bass is much better as well.

Here's a few pics of the TT harness showing how those 2 extra purple wires are attached for anyone else that might get that harness. Last pic is of the wires connected showing those 2 purple wires left not connected. If I had already known about the harness from Amazon, I would have probably bought it. But since I just got the one from TT, impatient me had already waited too long to wait any more to install it.

@Hayward Glad it worked out. It appears from that look @DirtyGovnuh is correct. That appears to be an add-an-amp harness for adding an amp and sub. You’re set for future upgrades!

Thanks! I really needed the stereo to sound better for now so this will do. Still don't like that the rear speakers are so much quieter than the front so I may just go with a new HU at some point and possibly a sub. Happy that I was able to do this myself though.

Also, for anyone else that might get the TT harness. This one came with it as TT said I needed it. I did not. No idea what it's for.
