Yea, I was wondering how deep in the outer coating went. Pretty deep actually.

I'm relieved that those two threads seem to be acting like it's no biggie. The other thread I linked earlier was a helluva lot more doomsday about the whole thing.

When they say “this call may be recorded for blah, blah, blah” I always respond, “Yes it is.”

Welp -- so far they're winning me over. Heard back this morning. Can't ask for much better of a response than this (assuming, of course, they make good on this should the dealership recommend the tank be replaced). Thus far it seems they're owning it 100% and I'm glad to see it in writing. I'll get the truck into the dealership ASAP and go from there.

Nice. The tank is probably fine. Would be cool if they replaced it though. If they don't, I'd slap some jb weld in there and run it. You still probably have close to an inch (maybe half inch?) worth of material between the inner lining, and that is close to a half inch thick. Let us know what the dealer says. Tbh, if Ironman is paying, really no reason for them to not replace it.

I dunno, all this has me curious just how thick our fuel tanks are. I wanna see one cut up. Ask the dealer if they are into science experiments...

That's how I feel about it -- let the dealership make the call. That said: something tells me the dealer is automatically going to recommend replacement not only because it's relatively easy labor money for them, but they have a potential liability issue on their hands if they recommend it NOT be replaced.

I can tell them I want to keep the old tank if they do replace it... dunno if I'll want to cut it up for science or keep in case I catch a boulder in the future, though. :p

    Hey Guys,

Super sorry about this! We received a batch of leaf springs with the spring clip bolts in backward and, unfortunately, some went out the door before we caught it. Rest assured, we will take care of you if you've received the affected product. The good news is that the issue is isolated to a small number of kits and is easily resolved by swapping the direction of the bolt. We've also corrected the issue on our leaf spring stock so new orders will not be affected.

Check your driver’s side leaf pack, if you have a “J” code on the spring call us at 855.476.5714 and we will absolutely take care of you.

    Humbly,

    The Ironman 4x4 Crew

I may be a bit biased because I worked with some of leadership folks from @Ironman4x4America a long time ago in a universe far, far away; but I am not all surprised by them owning their problem and making it right. They are good people.

Got around to swapping the springs today, went from the 826# to 720#. Used the truck as the compressor method. It went pretty well this time. The hardest part was breaking the lock nuts to adjust the spring height. Ride does not feel as stiff but it’s higher than I want it right now but I’m hoping it’ll settle some. My math and expectations on how much lift were off lol. Only went for a short drive today so I could t get a great fee for it yet. I also swapped the leaf bolt around and put my new skid plate on. Forgot to take a pic, but I’ll post one tomorrow. Right now the fronts sitting at 24.5” on the drivers side and 24.10 on the passengers. About an inch higher than it was (when I originally set it). Need to see if I posted updated numbers here anywhere.
