Depends on your skills and how nice you want it to be. In a pinch, a couple minutes. A couple more to do it nicely

If you leave the bed rails on it only takes a minute or two to remove it. Folding it forward is also very easy and that's all you have to do to put larger stuff in the bed.

    Ranked most important to least:

    • 3rd brake. Was a 36" strip, I've since upgraded to an 8" motorcycle taillight. It's so much brighter now.
    • 3/4" rubber grommets on the tailgate bar. Keeps it from sliding when rolled up
    • Softopper doggie window. Love rolling that up and opening the slider on a cool day.
    • Fire extinguisher quick release mount. Fortunately not used under distress.

Does anybody know if the Yakima Adjustable rack fits over a softtopper? Trying to find a rack to haul bikes with over the softtopper.

Plug and play with one of these would be neat for the brake light. VHB velcro on the back would let you attach it to a wide strip of onewrap sandwiched in the window velcro.

Wow. That is a nice solution to a problem that I barely have. $35 for the terminated 6in is a good deal.

That's the only thing holding me back, I have a working solution that is pretty great (thanks!). But the second that strip fails I'm going to this.

    You're welcome!

That is what I am thinking. The urethane gel coating (I think?) has started to yellow a bit on mine. Not bad for about 30mo of use.

In all honesty, I think it was either $25 or $35 in materials purchased to make mine. So, that VLEDs solution is on target. I did get to share and use the extra strip for other purposes, but the value of the product is there.

Those interior VLEDs strips that are used in the footwell lighting kit are top quality, which is what lead me to find their exterior strips. And since the tacomaworld dog loving custom harness team already did a collaboration with VLEDs, this just seems like the logical next step in their ascent to world domination.

Here is my 3rd Brake Light install. It unplugs so I can still remove the top easy if I want. Little wire shows just enough to get to the light. Used the Adapter off here to tap into the Break Light wiring real clean Plug and Play. Used a wood burner to make holes in the top and put Steel Eyelets in them for the stainless steel bolts. Used a Leather Strip to back up the light for more strength to bolt thru. Nice and brite day or night. Installed my Bed LED Lights too.

Reviving an old thread here, what connector/mount did you use? That looks clean.

Any deustch connector will work. I had a bunch from doing projector retrofits over the years
