there is an open recall on the brake light due to water getting in. And if the dealership already replaced it, then they did a shitty job and it should be taken care of. Unless I am miss understanding where things are at, this is on Toyota or more specifically the dealership.

it’s time the consumers get treated with proper customer service and respect. This take advantage of the consumers has to stop.

I have a set of black plastic “China” bumper caps if you want to try that route without destroying your OEM ones. E47A68E9-0E26-4FDE-B2EE-5C27AE810F10.jpg

So here's the thing. I already have those. Because I took my stock ones uhhhh little harsh in the woods. Was with @Skierrichy actually haha I have that same (or likely the same, black plain ones from rock auto).

    But thank you!

I'm with Mikey. I don't like tube bumpers, at least not on a daily, I like the plate bumpers. BUT, knowing that, what I might end up doing is a tube bumper and seeing if I can do plexiglass plates or something. Could be an option. I have no idea what I'm talking about, either. So keep that in mind. :D

there was a recall on that third brake light issue so I believe coverage was extended on that particular item; he should definitely fight it, especially if it’s making him fail inspection.
Mine was “checked” and they siliconed around it on some Mickey Mouse shit

If they did the work and I failed inspection because of it they'd hear about it for sure

I ordered a few of these and pinned them to match the house. This way, everything with padlocks at home (shed, trailer) operates with one key. If anyone has a need for padlocks, they seem very well built and were easy to rekey.

I just put a Meso tail pod in with a BDS1. May be low for a chase light, but a real simple solution. 3B24715C-762A-45A8-8996-32B394EC1F65.jpg

I have this exact setup sitting in my garage waiting to go on but also got the Diode Dynamics SS2 pnp reverse kit waiting to go on; haven’t decided which one I’m going with. Did you use a locking pin for the hitch? That Baja light is not cheap…

Yup - it’s got a rhino locking pin in there. I love the BD lights. I bought the flush mount S2s to put in my bumper, but then I bought a Rigid swing out tire carrier & that would cover them. This I can pull this out and put in the receiver on the swing out when it’s on.

So, I got 213k on my OEM rear brakes. Beat that!

Tried to start yesterday and a white out happened. Took way more brain power than I care to use. Good thing I'll most likely never have to do them again. Huge shout-out to @tacobell007 . Drew give me the rundown and pictures a little while back that gave me the courage and the noise lit the fire under my ass to get it done.

    Y'all have a good weekend!

    IMG_20220220_113226.jpg

Edit: this was the bad side, was missing the little rubber boot to adjust the brakes in the rear. Lots of rust on that one. Covering it with gorilla tape to go Wheeling tomorrow and I'll order the new one.

Yeah I've seen that and these too

I think I'll run chase lights off my roof rack. Probably going to be the best way to do it. I might get one of those bolt on things I posted above and try that and see how it does, and if it does well enough in the dust to be seen for what I'm doing (I'm not doing high speed stuff for example) then I might do a couple flush mounts instead. But first things first I think just getting them on there - the roof rack will be best.

Question for the electrical guys on here. If I have a 12V DC relay switched on for long periods of time, lets say 8 hours at a time, could that potentially kill the relay somehow?

On another note, how are people wiring additional charging ports for their mobile devices? Direct to battery? Relay? Fuse tap?

As long as it’s the appropriately sized relay, there isn’t any issue. Relays also tend to fail when clicking on and off a lot with heavy draw.

Man... i`d need to commit to owning a truck that long first... :anonymous:
No issue with keeping a relay cycled on for extended periods of time, just use good relays that are sized correctly.

If it were me, i`d use the current cigarette lighter as the `trigger` to a relay, then direct fused power from the battery to power the relay and the additional power port. If you`re only looking to add a USB power port, you might even get away with just tapping the existing cigarette lighter circuit. Its already fuse protected, you just need to make sure you`re not overloading the circuit.
