Hi there! I'm going to explore forest trails, fire roads, logging roads and the such in about 3 weeks. I live near Chicago, and I'm thinking Northern Wisconsin, Southern Illinois, or Indiana (South of Indianapolis). It'll be a week-long trip

How are the trails looking around you guys/gals near the aforementioned places? I'd appreciate any information that helps make the trip smoother.

    Thanks!

Depending on where you are going, probably pretty wet from snow melt. Some stuff is likely still closed for the season.

probably better off heading south this time of the year like to mark Twain nf or something

+1 to this. I'm just across the IL/WI state line from you but have been all over Wisconsin. Not the best time of year for a road trip up here unless you are searching for sloppy mud, leafless trees, and drab grey skies. Better off going south during this season.
