    @Chris311

Why don't you just loosen the bolts to the frame, and adjust?

All aftermarket bumpers have some play, mainly because you can't produce parts for a vehicle sight unseen and expect a perfect fit every time; there will be loose tolerances to accommodate mostly every vehicle.

With that said, just do as I suggested.

You could've installed the bumper yourself, it's super easy.

Obviously if I could have installed it myself, I would have. But due to certain medical issues, it's not a possibility for me until I get surgery. I came here asking for suggestions, not to be criticized for wanting to pay someone else for work rather than doing it myself.

Plus, I've already said that the shop did what you are suggesting. They tried to get the bumper to sit lower by loosening the mounting bolts, but it's already as low as they can get it.

You were helpful. My reply was to Kwikvette, not you.

@HasbroGamer looks good, thanks for the tip. Putting it on each side like that probably helps with noise as well.

Read my post; I offered a suggestion not criticism.

How am I to know you need surgery?

My reason for suggesting you try it yourself is because you can ensure said work is done right. Had I known you were in any way handicapped, then no I would have not suggested partaking on this task yourself.

Just because you don't like what's said to you doesn't automatically warrant it as an attack, or in your words, criticism.

Good luck on your issue and have a good day :hattip:

Maybe because it's text, but the way you wrote your message made it seem like you were criticizing me for not doing this myself. Did not mean to offend, sorry

Plus, I am an IT consultant, not an engineer, so I don't put to much trust in my own ability to do the work on my truck correctly myself.

Okay all, I finally have an update.

It took me a while to get around to talking to Adam, was busy at work this week plus it was also my on call week.

But you don't care about that.

So, I finally got around to check the straightness of the bumper top and it is perfectly flat, it just seems that the whole bumper is just sitting higher. Adam mentioned that he has seen on certain Tacomas his bumper sitting a little higher, covering the hole for the rear tire mount pulley access. It seems that I am just one of those lucky Tacoma owners whose mount points are slightly higher.

I even took the truck back and had the shop try loosening all 4 mount bolts again and seeing if they could get the bumper to sit lower, but no luck.

Adam said that there shouldn't be any cause for concern with towing, so I am happy. The reason I have such an old truck for offroading purposes is so that I won't care if it gets dinged up, so I can live with the dent and bends in my tailgate from getting it to clear the bummper.

I hope to have the rest of my truck ready by the end of March for a long 3k mile road trip I have planned.

Sorry you're having issues with the bumper. I'm really not sure what could cause it to sit higher like this. The primary concern would be if the bumper was warped but you had checked that and not seen any issues. The height of the bumper is entirely set by the mounting brackets themselves so there's no possibility that weld warp would affect the height of the bumper to the frame.
