I'm doing diffs and transfer case on a 2006 4x4 with the rear locker. Trd off road. Is this oil fine for all of it or do I need something else? Confused on the lsd additive if it will harm the transfer case.16471330624491418491006411411040.jpg

The LSD additive is not needed for your application but it won't hurt anything.
    Rock on.

Never seen gear oil in a squeeze bag like that. Should make filling much easier.

The LSD additive should not harm it at all. Only thing I would recommend is to change the vent valve on the differential if you never have done it. It is easy to change out.

    I wouldn’t put LSD oil in a locker. It’s for LSD’s.
squeeze pouch doesn’t matter. Rest of the world uses regular bottles and a hand pump or large fluid syringe tool.

Currently running synthetic 75w140 in rear diff, 75w90 Amsoil syn in front diff and transfer case

pros and cons to 75w140. Might be stronger for racing, off road, towing. may also be thicker causing MPG loss dallying.
but if anything is causing the majority of my MPG loss it’s stock 3.73 gearing on load E 33’s

    All of them.

LSD oil in a diff without limited slip will not hurt anything. It's still gear oil

Does it do anything to it? I haven't been able to find anything that says it would harm it.

Kids going to eat that like a tide pod thinking it’s one of those apple sauce packs. It will only be a matter of time before someone sues and they to back to the old school container.

idk I’m a simple guy. If something says to put it in, I do. If it’s not for it, I don’t.
Orange juice is for drinking. LSD oil is for LSD’s.

Wow, we seem to have deviated from the actual question asked.

OP, the Owners Manual says GL-5 is fine for both Transfers Case and Differential.

If it were my truck, I would squeeze it in and forget about it.
If there was a problem, we’d surely know about it by now.
Since this guy used “LS” marked fluid way back in 2011:thumbsup:

I couldn't find anywhere if synthetic differential and transfer case fluid is stock from the factory. I have about 9k miles on my 22 off road and would like to replace the existing oil before deep winter if it is mineral based. Thank You.

I’ve never heard of the OE fill was synthetic or not.
I know Toyota changed the weight specs on the later year trucks.
I’d have to look and see what the change was exactly.

But I want to think that the transfer case recommendation in the later trucks was pretty much a synthetic based oil.

I’d go with, No it’s not synthetic if you are worried about it.
I personally haven’t used synthetic in my differentials.
I honestly can’t remember what I used in the transfer case.

Them squishy bags are what I used last. It’s no problem using it all around. Got a box of 4 on Amazon for $46; I see they are up to $65. You wont need anything else. A tip - roll up the bag from the bottom as you fill the diff - that squeezes out as much oil as possible.

I believe if you have an EGGS bearing in the front diff, EGGS recommends 75w140 conventual oil. I'm running 75w140 synthetic.

Note the OP has a 2006, lubrication specifications are different for the 3 gen 2016 and up trucks.

Section 9.1 of your owners manual starting about page #573 clearly provides all the lubrication specifications for your vehicle. Any products meeting the listed Toyota specifications will be satisfactory.
