Just need to figure out how many fittings I need and get those, tubes, and coolant.

    I have everything else.

Probably going to need to make some custom offset bracket in order to fit the rads though but it'll be my first hardline full water cooled build so I'n stoked.

Alright looks like it was the charger and $15 was all it needed to fix this.

Looking at the PCB it looked like more RAM could be added and sure enough, watching this video it looked like it could.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg5_LI898NI

It said 4GB of DDR4 2133MHZ would be what I needed and looking it up in Windows, it was saying there is 4GB currently so that should match it and make it 8...

I don't obviously want to overspend on this since it's a light duty laptop for my wife to browse and use basic programs on, but it would be nice to make it a bit faster. Any recommendations from the $19.99-$24.99 range units?

    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=4gb+ddr4...fix=4gb+ddr4+2133mhz,aps,329&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Or would it be possible to get 2 sticks of 8 for 16 total with this machine?

    Stoked on this!

Depending on which model and CPU you have, 32GB may even be possible. I would check the serial number with Acer. https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support

I couldn't recommend anything more than 16. Choosing between 8 and 16 will depend on what you plan on using it for.

As far as technical limitations of that particular laptop impacting the diminishing returns, I'm not sure.

Here's what I believe are the least expensive options for that amount:

    https://www.amazon.com/Tech-PC4-17000-Notebook-Computer-AT16G1D4S2133ND8N12V/dp/B07KGLTT7V?crid=2Y76A7JIM89UL&keywords=ddr4+2133+laptop&qid=1647843272&sprefix=ddr4+2133+laptop%2Caps%2C137&sr=8-5

    https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-DDR4-2133-512Mx64-Laptop-M471A1G43DB0-CPB/dp/B016VADLPS?crid=2Y76A7JIM89UL&keywords=ddr4+2133+laptop&qid=1647843272&sprefix=ddr4+2133+laptop%2Caps%2C137&sr=8-4

Either the A-Tech combo or 2 separate Samsung's. Kind of a chicken and the egg question with what I can use the computer for - how well it performs will make me consider heavier use (video, photo, programming etc.)

Nice build dude!!! We have pretty similar specs. how are the 3 240s keeping up with the temps?

DO it! The locking function of the SL120s and AL120s are worth it. all the RGB with at most 8 cables per hub.

Tossed the 870 Evo SSD and HX850 platinum PSU in.

File transfer with the original HDD:

    New SSD

    much more respectful speeds

also the PSU is basically silent under sustained load so I’m ecstatic with the state of this machine.

Been playing with Aida64 and debating if I want to mount a screen for temp monitoring or not. Overkill but I like to see temps and usage % on various hardware while in use. not to mention power draw etc. etc.

I'm already all in on Corsair ML140 RGB Pro's, got 9 in my rig IIRC.

I'll admit the Lian Li's are sexy and tempting but I am content for the time being.

Last I checked they didn't make them in 140mm either and that's a major hang up.

Highest temp I’ve seen so far was 49C for the loop. That only happens after the room is essentially a sauna though, typically stays in the low-mid 40’s.

They actually do have 140’s now, at least in the SL version like I’ve got. Those Corsair fans are nice too!

Nice! Acrylic runs? IIRC PETG deforms at 40c

mine gets up to 41c after the room is a sauna and I’m uncomfortably hot. I could drop it a bit but I like 1000 rpm fan speed as it’s nearly silent.

always thinking about how to improve lol

Yeah, acrylic runs with a couple of EPDM tubes hiding in the back. Same here on the fans, mine are just running at a steady 800RPM to keep things quiet. I could bump them up though, the pump isn’t the most silent thing in the world.

Only time it broke the mid 40’s was during some long stress tests just to make sure there wouldn’t be any thermal runaway issues.

Well I was inspired and decided to buy another 360 rad for the front of my case. It's not supported but I believe there's room, even with some minor mods.

I'm thinking top exhaust, front intake, side exhaust, rear intake.

Clean build!! Planning on adding more fans if needed?

What are the specs?! (I think I missed it a few pages ago)
