Factory Intake Retrofit

I opted to test a theory to also utilize a few filters laying around..

Picked up a factory setup and got to dismantling it.



Factory lid


Charcoal removed. Just rip it out and clean up plastic welds with a razorblade


Base disassembled


Intake tube cracked open





Factory venturi in base


Filter goal/theory


Factory filter element removed. Will use for gasket. Also will need to cut mesh out.


Will remove cross pieces. Likely irrelevant but yeah.


Cut off resonator with no real tools. Will clean up and patch somehow. Fiberglass or CF. Or just glue. Lol



More to come when I get some composite to lay in the filter with a 4" opening and the right angle. Also looking at patching the intake tube to save $170 over HPS.

 

What's the idea/theory behind this?

 

Boredom and being cheap. Rather fab something for marginal gains than pay $250-450...

Why not just do what is in this thread? post #53 specifically. Thats what I did. HPS tube, TRD filter, and the flow accelerator.
