    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Harbor Frieght also has this one now. Looks to be the same as the OTC set. Probably not the same quality as OTC, but would definately be servicable for limited use of a do it yourselfer. And I'm sure it's considerably less expensive than OTC.

The big (hinged) one appears to be the size that would make it better for the upper ball joint too. And it has the same one as the $15 single puller in the set.

What did I do to my Gen1 today?
Well, I started cleaning it out today.

On 10/10/20 I did the front lower balljoints- and then proposed to my now-wife during cleanup!

Listing the truck for sale soon, but if I can't get what I want in cash I just might put it into storage for a while... likely repurpose the custom flatbed in the meantime.

Had to upgrade to something a bit bigger with 4WD for now, but I could see this little truck doing me well down the road if things go well.
In the mean time I got a Gen2.

I don't seem to have any good current photos- but once she's cleaned up I'll take some.

Hands down best vehicle I've ever owned.
Been tracking every fillup since 2014 or so... when I bought her in Florida. Had it shipped here to New England, and have kept up with the FluidFilm on the underside every year since.
Cleanest Gen1 I've ever seen.... but I look at how solid/reliable a vehicle is, not how good the paint is. Honestly I'm tempted to dig my '85 mr2 out of storage and sell that to make room to hold onto this legend.
I still have the factory wheels- but two years back I couldn't source the 14" tires to take a sticker, and had to pick up some 15" replacements for the rear.

I haven’t tried it on the UBJ, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for that.

It’s pretty stout, I’ve hammered on it with a 1/2” impact driver and no damage that I can see.

Maxbore rebuilt TB finally gets re-installed. I’ve been chasing a high idle for awhile hoping this could help and so far…. it has! Drove back home from where I installed it (maybe a half mile) parked it and the idle came down to about 900ish! Would typically hover around 1100. Things are looking good so far. Hopefully it’ll come down a smidge more but I honestly wouldn’t mind if it stayed around 900.

Yes I used a pen and a sharpie to plug the hoses lol.

you should really be in the range of 750-850 while in park if you have an auto. Double check your TPS, IAC, and throttle cable tension if you haven’t already.

edit: that IAC looks like you replaced it recently. Could be your throttle position sensor. If the idle doesn’t settle down some more, I believe you can OHMs check the TPS with a multimeter.

Ya I am aware that it should be in the 750-850 range, and that is the end goal. Still, 900 is a better than 1100. Also yes, I mentioned somewhere previously in the thread that I’ve replaced the IAC twice recently with no change. So that’s ruled out. TPS was my next suspect followed by the coolant temp sensor.
I’ve never used a multimeter before. How would I check that? What am I looking for?

    Lots of questions.

5VZFE M/T upper radiator hose. The part number I have is 16571-07030 which looks to be discontinued? Seems like a part they wouldn't discontinue though...

And, how long should I expect my original radiator to last? I'm doing my ~200K timing belt maintenance, so if I shouldn't expect another 100K from the radiator, now is the time to do it. OEM or aftermarket on the radiator?

Tagging a few folks who mentioned radiator hoses in other threads, but no part numbers...

I would replace it since you're in there. Coolant isn't cheap either, nor easily disposed of. At least around here.

This is the part# I used, MT vs auto doesn't matter for the upper. 16571-62070

Mine is do also coming up on 700,000,
But I'm thinking I might run mine another 25k, I had the timing cover off last month and the belt didn't look to have any cracks or obvious wear.
I wonder how many people run there belts longer than 90k? I don't see many posts of a belt failures.
Radiator if it's original I would replace since they are cheap 100.00 with a good name brand company and a flush to remove any sen.
Look at the gates hoses, gates typically are much better quality

I’ll be honest, I’ve had a timing belt kit sitting on my bench for about a year. Just hit 210k, pretty sure previous owners never replaced it, and the belt looks fine. Starting to get a belt squeal on startup but that’s just accessory belts I think.

I too would be interested in the knowledge on using a multimeter to test these components.

My idle is 1500 after all the gaskets. Sooo I need to do some testing myself.
