I'm running a Radioddity DB20-G mobile GMRS with a ghost antenna that I've really enjoyed. I also bring 4 FRS handhelds for anyone in my group that doesn't have a radio.

    Yeasu ftm-400
As well as @Coop68 @bot102 soon to be @Red Baron

I’ve sent and received messages through it.
the 710g is better for using a tablet to upload aprs packets. But the ftm has a built incolor touch screen.
Both are dual band and aprs

Anyone got a recommendation for a good textured powder coat guy in Denver metro area?

How do you like the user interface? I was looking at that radio and another brand that is basically the same. I saw a couple reviews that made it seem like it wasn't very user friendly. The price point on that is closer to what I want to spend rather than a yeasu or Kenwood, since it won't get a lot of use.

I'm my research it seems there are a variety of digital repeater 'providers'. For the ones that allow digital messaging, do you have to use a separate process depending on the provider, or can you use one method across any digital repeater? For example, SMSGTE.

I've been a CB user for years so this was a big step up in functions. It was a little bit to get used to but I don't think I'd be any better off with other radios. The biggest thing for me was just learning how GMRS frequencies and codes work(went deep down the youtube rabbit hole) and then it was a breeze.

I think it’s all dependent on your intention of use. And to be honest, much more qualified people on here to answer any technical questions. They worked great for me for years but I’ve never done any hardcore wheeling with them.

It was a humble brag. But then between neighbors and kids I had 20 people at my house so it’s more like an “oh shit that’s too much for a Sunday night”
