They probably popped off the lock, saw the stick shift… and left.

Thankful for your sake, that they didn't. I'm currently dealing with chasing down stolen items from my truck after a break in/broken door glass. To Dso's point, I had my door glass replaced for much less than what my insurance deductible is going the self pay route. Still sucks, but sucks less than them charging over $500 to my insurance company and me paying $500 for a $250-300 job.

I've thought about getting one but see people getting alot of codes thrown up when they put them on, let me know if you know of one that doesn't!

If I was in your position, it would really depend on the paint damage to the door. If you're not too worried about it, I'd throw some clear coat from a touch-up pen or clear nail polish just to slow/prevent rust and call it a day. Then again, it is a new truck and if you wanted it to be "perfect" then getting it into a body shop to repaint the door will be expensive, more down time, and they will have to remove a lot of parts off the door for the painting process.

To be honest there really isn’t any paint damage other than on the edges next to where they drilled the plastic black piece, my concern is the total costs of parts and me hiring a lock smith to match the lock to my key.. thanks for your inputs man!

It depends on whether the claim will increase your insurance premiums. You should ask your broker that question.

They mentioned it won’t go up since I’m not at fault.

Put a magnet on the back of Harbor Freight driveway alert on your truck or next to it- anyone walking up to it will sound off the alarm unit. Works up to a couple hundred feet away, even in your house.

I used this magnet attached to the sensor with a small bolt, nut and washer to stick it on my truck at night:
