I know those led's don't pull a lot of juice, but you really should consider running a relay.

    Lights look awesome otherwise!

Just bought my 01 recently and it came with a Pioneer head unit so I decided to get a Pioneer CD-ME300 wired remote for it, cut the neck off a vitamin bottle for the remote to sit in, and shoved the bottle into the first cup holder. When I rest my right arm on the center console my hand naturally falls onto the remote so I can easily change volume, skip track, or mute. No more leaning/reaching forward and fumbling on the head unit itself.

    TWIN LED BACKUP LAMP

"In the beginning", a chief 1st gen beef was the weak backup lights. The later style was a tad better but nothing to brag about.
Folks would plaster the inside with reflective tape. Then there was an incandescent 50w bayonet base lamp for some sort of fog light but it would tend to melt the housing after a bit. Then came the plug and play LED movement, better but still lots to be desired.

I had picked up a 10 pack of these fellows for the light in the camper shell, it takes the wedge base.

Having 9 left, thoughts turned to fitting them up for the backup light. I was intrigued by the fact that all the LEDs pointed the same direction.

Bayonet base with the glass picked out soldered to extension wires. Physical mounting of the lamp would come later.

With the tail light lens removed it looked like the opening was perfect for two lamps. Without hesitation the "Gemini" was born. These lamps are not polarized so butting them together is not a problem. Gave it little angle for better spread and to allow it to sit right up close to the curved lens.

With a removable base, a spare lamp would only need the wires. From the misc electrical connector bin came these fellows, modular snap together set screw connectors intended to be soldered to circuit boards, perfect for the removable base.

    Soldered and JB filled.

Had to face the mount issue. A vertical section of pipe insulation about 1/2" longer than the height of the gray "baffle" was quick and secure. The lamp was secured to the insulation with a blob of caulk. The baffle has little ridges inside that almost look like they were intended to guide the foam into place and resist it turning in place.

The opening in the gray "baffle" had already been whittled out to match the size of the clear backup portion of the lens. Why Toyota made it smaller, blocking light, is beyond me.

The removed wedge base could be wired up for the later style housings (with a little more care than this).

I never thought to do before and after pics so after the fact I stuck the one remaining spare incandescent on the pass side to contrast to the LED on the driver side.
This proved to be a problem. The combination of the more than 180 degree spread and intensity of the LEDs completely washed over the incandescent side.
    Shot from pass side.

The better comparison was straight on. Check out the garage door frame and the soffit above.

    Parting shot.

I color-matched OEM the Lunar Rock in Raptor Liner (12% reduction for a smooth finish). It has an odd satin glow to it now.

Coilovers, sway bars, wheels, tires, extended studs, intake, head and taillights, seats, short shifter,
Almost done with my latest steering wheel wrap. I did this from scratch and I think this one came out quite good. I started stitching it, but I decided the string was too thin for my liking. I am awaiting the arrival of some proper steering wheel thread I ordered so I can finish it.

I'm beside myself with joy at how well this thing fits. If you want it done right, clearly, you have to do it yourself!

Not necessarily unique but I had a double-din head unit and bass knob installed underneath:

    20220407_135116.jpg

Possibly more unique, I took out the ash tray which I never use and used thick double-sided Gorilla tape to attach my ScanGauge E in the spot. The cable is routed through the back over to the OBD2 port.

    20220407_135245.jpg

The amp is under the driver seat (not pictured) and behind the rear seats of my 01 Double/Crew cab I have this box from ground-shaker.com (found from a post somewhere here on TW) with this sub (Rockford Fosgate R2 Ultra Shallow 10-Inch). On the passenger side there's not enough space for the seatback tray thing so it's off but the driver side seatback fits so I left it on.

    20220407_173127.jpg

The only downside to this sub box besides reduced hidden storage is that the tools had to be removed including the metal jack mount/holder. It bumps pretty decently so I'm happy with it.

Finally I also used the thick double-sided tape stuff to attach a thermometer clock to the left of the vents. Since I have double cab that space is just a blank so having a clock I can see while driving and inside/outside temperature is nice. It's bulky and ugly and doesn't have a light for night viewing but it's one of the few I found on Amazon with decent reviews so I'm fine with it.
