Who here keeps recovery boards in their truck? And if so which brand and how often have you used them.

I keep them under the tonneau. I've used them once. I got them for 60 bucks on Amazon a year ago. They worked fine.

I have 4 TREDS strapped on top of the rack. I have used 2 of them once for a friend, and once for myself.

Never used them but i have used my winter rubber floor mats they can work pretty good if you need some grip on ice. That’s an old Montreal trick my Dad taught me :)

dont own any but know a few guys who tossed some bucks at Princess auto.
@llamasmurf was it you or someone else who used "tank" rated recovery boards that got like 4 sets due to defect claims right because they kept parking a shipping container on them in the dead of winter? think it was Actiontraxs

Anything to wedge you out and gain some traction will do great if you find yourself getting stuck. The only reason to spend a bit more $$$ than something super cheap is for the durability. I have Maxtrax, they're cool I guess, work well, but the competition at half the price would have likely gotten me out as well! A reliable shovel and something affordable with a somewhat decent reputation will work the same.

I also get like 87 broverland points for having these attached to my truck in the city. :bananadead:

made 2 sets of these years ago for my F150. Got me out of a few situations, but they don’t have the traction of MaxTrax etc.

I couldn't handle the responsibilities of that many points so I opted for the lime green 87 pointer :D

    Like, so many.
I’ve got 2 sets of a knock off brand. I keep one set in my truck strapped to the back of the bed with a bungie. They are under a cover so unfortunately no extra points.

I’ve used them three times. Once on a recovery. Once while off roading. Once to help a lady whose minivan slipped off the road.

I have 2 Princess Auto traction boards, just bouncing around in the leer cap. I have used them 5 or 6 separate times, quite a few nubs have worn off, but no cracks in the boards themselves.

I cant say enough good things about USAction Trax, I love em.

Got the shipping container where I wanted it!@ Leveled the truck out by stacking them.

A few shots of me and @Marc70, doing some snow wheeling. Real traction boards like the ones Marc made, or my USAction Trax make all the difference.

Cheaper boards give up pretty quick, and become broken plastic parts in the snow when you put them up to some serious wheelin.

Yes @Marc70 has wheeled with me in 2 of his Taco's!

    :bananadance:

Those photos are also taken in the exact same spot. We have been stuck there a few times. :boink:

+1 for Maxsa Innovations. I have a set and they've gotten me out of a few jams. They're holding up quite well so far, too.

I carried eBay traction boards https://www.ebay.ca/itm/403573509898 for years but only used them a few times in deep snow. For occasional use, they worked OK.

Recovery equipment needs to be in easy reach. You don't want to be crawling to the front of the bed over all your cargo to grab traction boards, while your truck is stuck. I just keep them stowed against the tailgate when loading up for a trail run. (The big storage box has straps tying it to the D-rings at the bed corners, so it can't move forward.)
