No errors yet. :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: if I can get through this week's forecasted rain and still no errors, I'll call it a win and stop dicking with it.

Report back with the results, if you don't mind. I would like to do something similar.

No on aftermarket… oem sr trim no broken tabs and the wiggle is only in top. I forget about it until I wash it.

Not a bad idea. I still need to come up with a mount for my front cam, I’ll look into it again but probably not something I’ll get worked up about

got the emblem wrapped/precut. It’s slightly smaller (or more correctly the white from the stock emblem “bleeds” over the edge) so you can see a white outline. I’ll have to redo this because it does bother me though. The wrap is a color match to the mgm paint but might be to dark for me, still on the fence and not sure what other color I’d like

The mesh behind the grille would give you something to work off for a camera mount and also would help with the wobble. Can't remember if you had a 2016-2017 or 2018+ version of the grille and are using it with the ajt relocation bracket? Because the AJT relocation bracket won't work in connection with the mesh as the radar can't pass through metal.

Thanks again fro sharing, so you made the vinyl lettering yourself?

There was a source that made the vinyl lettering that fir perfectly over the Toyota Land Cruiser Emblem, if anyone finds one please feel free to share.

There’s a center screw on the top edge that I was going to look at for mounting the camera. I do have the pre tss grille w/ ajt bracket- I’ve thought about a plastic weave/mesh material but only briefly looked.
No I didn’t make the vinyl- tv something but I can still see some of the white along the edges. I can’t fault the vinyl because some of the white on the emblem bleed past the raised edge of the individual letters.

The AJT relocation bracket won't work with the mesh but seems like customers are having positive feedback with it.

That's what I got. Mesh with the lower cutout and plastic mount. It took a bit of tinkering because I wanted to black out the plastic piece, but after testing it on a 2500 mile road trip, I'd say it's pretty solid.

Also, I have to say that the truck got more compliments on this trip than any other. Even had a park ranger stop by the campsite to chat for a minute.

After trying a few different methods the easiest was the only one that worked:

    A single layer of 3M wrap :https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRGXTKF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I tried matte paint and replacing with black plastic, both of those did not work.

The 3M wrap did well in all weather and with rapid changes between towing/hauling/unloaded (changing up ride angles). It did not do well off-road, but the stock grille doesn't work well off road either, so that one was a bit of a no-brainer. :cookiemonster:

    Thanks!

Have you experimented with different thicknesses of the plastic? I wonder if that has more or less of a factor

Yes I have. After completely trashing the plastic that comes with the grille :anonymous::anonymous: I tried ordering a couple of sheets of 1/8" acrylic in both black and clear and trying those. The sensor immediately rejected both after 5 miles of driving. I then ordered and tried the 1mm clear, which I believe is the same as what's supplied. That one worked, so I applied the 3M wrap and ran with it.

I did want to see if I could find a non-textured sheet of low-density poly (LDPE) since that seems to be what the stock grille is, but I stopped playing around after finally fixing what I shouldn't have broken. :homer:

    Yeh they can be sensitive.

If you were to find acrylic (not polycarbonate) that's thinner that what's provided it should give you more room to try out something else out but the vinyl is your best bet.

    That looks great!

what a solid idea too since it’s easy to center and place.
That’s what I’m dreading because I want to the Toyota logo
