I’ve seen some adapters to make your CarPlay wireless. Has anyone with a 2020+ tried any out or have any experience with them?

I have a 2021 and have the CPlay2Air Adapter (https://cplay2air.com/). It works pretty well for what it is and sound quality is good, but there will be a slight delay with audio. For music, it isn't really a big deal, but can be a little annoying with phone calls. Ultimately though, I ended up ordering the Course Motorsports Magnet Mount for my phone (great option if looking for a magnet mount) and just run a wire from the USB plug.

I have a Carlinkit 2.0 and don’t recommend it. It worked okay for the first few months with random disconnects and head unit freezes, and then went out entirely.

They are on the 3.0 now and maybe that one is better :notsure:

I’ve run the CPlay2Air Adapter for over a year now with zero complaints. Must have, IMO.

Just to be clear, the mount does not allow wireless Carplay - I just almost always put my phone on the mount when I get in the truck, so having the wire running for Carplay became less of a concern for me. And my phone dies relatively fast these days, so having it charging is nice haha.

I have a CarlinKit 2 and I'm now changing my mind on it and putting it into the Do Not Recommend category. If it broke I would not replace it. It's too unreliable since it will fail to connect about 10% of the time.

I have the CarlinKit 3.0 and so far I have had zero issues. I've had it for just about a month now. My phone auto connects every time without issue.

It seems like a lot of the negative reviews come around the 3 month mark, so I will definitely be keeping an eye on the performance and plan on reporting back here if the product takes a dump.

I just bought the CarlinKit 3.0 as well, for my 2022. Took 10 seconds to setup, and works great so far. Haven't tried phone calls, just spotify and google maps. Amazon has a nice $27 off coupon right now, so it was under $70. Worth a shot, I thought, but I'll update too if mine dies.

Never had an issue, aside from the slight delay. I don’t really use mine anymore though, as I’ve just switched to wired.

Oh I mean your course mount. You have the wireless charge ring right?

Ahh my mistake - no, I just have the standard mount. My experience with wireless charging (in general) has been that it charges so slowly that it almost isn't worth it. And I don't like how much it heats up the phone. I've just been sticking to wired.

Yeah I was really happy with it until my phone fell off leaving the ring on the mount. I just don’t think there is enough surface area and adhesive to support the weight like you see with the flat metal plates. Ugh, I wanted to like the mount to so now I’m back to square one.

I'm running this one, and with the $34 off coupon it was a great deal and has been awesome so far.

I'm using the cplay2air. It's really nice not having to plug a phone in. I would say about once every 10 days is fails to connect. When this happens you can just unplug/ plug back in and that has worked every time. I think I read its related to heat which makes sense because it seems to do it more often when its hot out.

I have been using the CarlinKit 3.0 since April 2021 with little issues. Every once in a while I have to disco the usb to let the unit remap it self. This is very seldom though. I mainly use for Waze and or google maps.

Apple announced yesterday a major update to CarPlay which may fix some gremlins. Along with, except on Toyota products currently, custom digital gauges that will overlay the OEM gauges and HVAC and other controls. Pretty wild.
