Ran my Stock 265/65/17 Toyo A30 at 35. Replaced at 48K and still had some life left with even wear.

Replaced with Nitto Terra Grappler 265/65/17 and had them at 35 and felt a sway on the toll roads going 70-90 MPH. Bumped them up to 40 and felt a lot better. Feel more firm to the road running them a bit high. Might not be as comfortable but handling is a lot more confidant ~ Stock shocks, no extra weight.

I have a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3 on my 21 DBL CAB OR. They are LT 265/75/16 Load rating is E. Does anyone run these and at what PSI?

I was thinking somewhere around 37. Thanks

I have a 2014 DCSB that I am running Cooper Discoverer HT3 LT265/75/R16, load range C, 112/109R. When the tires were installed, the tech aired them to 30 psi all around. I questioned his decision and he said that they only put in what is on the door column sticker. Of course, that number is based upon the original stock BFG P245/75/R16's. He said that after I leave, I can do whatever I want. Well at a cold (70 degrees) 30PSI this is what the tire looks like.

    tirepic.jpg

So I have been airing them to 35. There seems to be no straight answer from either the dealer or the posts on this forum. I am on a lifetime rotation and balance plan, and every 5000 miles they reduce my pressure back to 30. Am I wrong to put more pressure in them? I am looking for a happy balance between better gas mileage and a smooth ride.

I recently learned that apparently I've been running the wrong pressure in my tires ever since the stock P-metric 265/70r16 tires wore out and I switched to LT256/75r16. Have always heard to run what the manufacturer says and any place that's done the tires has done that.
Recently went to LT255/85r16 and when I was researching the differences I came upon this site.
You put in the info for the stock tire and what you plan to replace it with and it recommends a pressure for the new tire. According to this I should be running 38 psi front and 41 psi rear. Rather different from the stock 29/32.

The different calculators will give different pressures because they use different load capacities.
I still plan to do the chalk check.

I just used both calculators and they gave the same exact calcs for my setup.

I guess it's on to the chalk test. However, I don't think this will be accurate either since the tires have almost 2 years of usage and will naturally be more worn toward the outside of the tread since they have obviously been underinflated.

    Yeah...
I've noticed a few of these online calculators to be inaccurate. Some have the wrong weights, some de-rate incorrectly, etc.

    What are your specs?
You must know exactly what tire was OEM...do you know the difference between a p-metric and euro metric?

Which version of the chalk test? The abbreviated version that 99% of people use, or the complete version that account for equal deflection and dynamic loading of the tire?
With modern radial tires, all the abbreviated version does is adjust latitudinal footprint, which is far less susceptible to changes in psi than the longitudinal footprint; thus, compromising longitudinal footprint.

Beyond my pay grade ... when I've done it I drive a bit to warm the tires to operating temp and then try it. It is probably far from perfect but better then nothing!

I’m at 32 rear, 34-35 front on my 265/70-17 ultra terrains on 17x8.5 KMCs. Truck rides nice and tires seem to be wearing evenly after a few thousand miles of everyday commuter driving. They pick up a couple PSI when driven for a bit

I need new tires. 2019 TRD OR DCSC.
Should I just stick to the goofyear wranglers that came with it?
I have the TRD off-road stock rims. Drive mostly city/highway with some light woods road driving.
maybe there's a better thread for this.

BTW, it amazing to me there are 16 pages for tire pressure.

I remove the stock tires soon as delivery. Took the Bridgestones off the 2022 4Runner, for Michelin LTX/MS Defenders. Took dealer 4 times on the Road Force till they got it right. This is our 6th 4Runner since 2008, always a problem getting balanced.

Took delivery 12/27, new 2023 TRD Tacoma 4WD, (lucked out on allotment), and straight to the Michelin dealer. They could not balance to get rid of vibration. They suggested move up to 275's, from stock, not that this is going to change things, only since they would do an exchange, the upgrade was OK.
Three visits, finally got it right, not 100%, but OK at 75 mph.

Question : Couple days later, checked tire pressure with digital guage. LR-36 LF-37 RR-38 RF-40. I'm not going back to bug them anymore, as I think we get to the (Here comes that asshole again), stage.
When on the Bear Machine, do you guys think they inflate to pressure needed on the individual tires, to balance when they run
    them up ?

I realize the defective tire, or suspension issues. I am going to set pressure to 36 all four.

If the Wranglers are standing up to the trails, they are probably a great choice as a replacement.
Going up to an LT is going to cost you in fuel consumption (although less terrible if you don’t upsize) and might have a lower speed rating.
