Try 12345678. Usually the passwords are something default and super easy. Not sure why they would even require a password when its defaulted to something like that.

If that doesnt work try 00000000

@MountainManGuy - any chance you can upload some photos of how the unit looks from some extreme side and top angles, and a couple with the screen detached? Super curious how it looks

For sure, my truck is in the dealership for the tail light recall, but once I get it back I'll snap a few pictures and get the posted later this evening

There was a guy a few pages back that had issues getting his trim bezel to snap back in place... it's that kind of angle I'm looking for (if that helps)

Thanks @MountainManGuy... that thing barely clears the trim!!

I think I saw in there that you weren't super thrilled with that unit, or am I misinterpreting things? Also, I feel like from their website that you could adjust the screen up or down by moving the clips that snap it to the in-dash unit... would you say that's a fair assessment?

Yea you can adjust the screen position by moving the clips. I've got mine right where I want it and it fits decently well. Couldn't go any bigger or it would block the vents.

I'm not super thrilled with this unit no, but my issue is I'm not thrilled with any head unit on the market. They all kinda suck. I keep wanting an android phone or tablet like experience and it's just not there. But, it's not all bad. It generally works ok, and if you can get the goddam touch screen to cooperate(my biggest complaint) it's cool being able to natively use youtube or plex to watch stuff. Just don't expect the touch screen to work 100% of the time. It's very finicky on the touch part.

@MountainManGuy - I'm having trouble trying to figure out how you set this up, but did you try to center the screen on your dash or did you offset it [vertically] one direction or another?

I'm coming from an Alpine ILX-W650 in my old Tacoma, and that unit actually worked really well in just about all aspects. Only reason its not coming forward in the new truck is it's size.

Watching video isn't high on my list of needs to do in the truck, though Im sure on occasion I'll take advantage of it. For me its about ease of use and a big enough screen that can (hopefully, expecting to be disappointed here) run both Waze and Spotify/DashCommander in a split screen setup. The stock HU is extremely cumbersome to use, with all the built in safeguards, like not being able to input a destination unless you're on the side of the road parked, and the map/nav screen is a horrible sight to look at after having used the Waze interface for about a decade now.

For me, while I love a great stock look like the 9" has, the screen resolution is underwhelming. I actually think the 11.6" unit in Mountain's photos looks really good considering its size, though if he's got it centered vertically, I would probably adjust the mounts to move the screen higher up in the dash.

I just left it centered. Didn't move the mounting tabs at all from where it was by default. I did have to drill holes in the metal mounting bracket to get the distance from the dash right since I wanted it as flush as possible without rubbing offroad.

Maybe someone else can chime in here but I don't know of a way to do split screen, other than physically plugging my phone in and using android auto, which can do google maps and spotify split screen. But, sometimes android auto crashes my head unit and sometimes it will be stuck in a boot loop until I unplug my phone.

I still feel like people are missing the point here when I say all head units on the market are kinda crap. If you've ever used a modern cell phone or tablet, you'd know how smooth that experience is. I'm talking pinch to zoom, scrolling, tapping on menu options. Those things are finicky at best with these head units. Pinch to zoom works, sometimes. Scrolling through a list works, sometimes. Trying to tap an option on the screen works, sometimes. It's not like my phone that is just always silky smooth and never skips a beat. I only say this to try and keep things in perspective. Just know that it'll be pretty good, but it's far from perfect. The resolution is pretty damn great though I'll give it that.

Drilling holes: Semi-expected. 8 years installing stereo equipment and unless it mounted with a cage only (aka fords & hondas), something was always a tiny bit off.

Split screen/AndAuto: used to plugging in the phone so not a big deal there, though the boot loop sounds like a potential problem.

Missing the point: I mean we're buying a chinese brand headunit that has been producing HU's for about 10 years now, and they're trying to do this essentially as a ported OS (I'm sure that Google doesn't officially recognize these as compatible units for an Android unit) at about one third the price of big brand manufacturer's with decades more experience, and make it work with more than one vehicle manufacturer. Maybe others expect these things to be silky smooth; I just expect it to work as intended, aka "pretty good", without things like boot loops and audio cutting out (JBL systems aside... tangential rant: why are you all not just rewiring around the amp?).

All that said, appreciate the help that you've given here recently regarding the unit you bought, and everything that @5nahalf (and many others) have contributed. After I get my cat converters replaced, this might be my next purchase

In case you are still using the anytime camera setup with the app. Keep everthing wired the way you have it, but add an extra wire. Run a wire and tap into the orange wire coming from the front/rear switch and connect it to the orange "back" wire on the Joying radio. Now you wont need the app, the switch will work as it did with the stock radio.

Which joying unit do you have specifically? I'm really curious to try this out and see if my front camera starts working.
