right on, you were the genius I was looking for! But thank you for both of your responses. I really wanted to use the red backlight as a running light (when my taillights are on) and then light up bright when I used my brakes. They will be in my bumper so they will just be an additional flash of “brake lights”. Maybe something DD could help us out with in the future. :spending:

I've heard of other "projects" DD is working on but I'm not in the loop. Have to wait and see what they come up with next!

The product images show wiretap connectors. What wires am I tapping into? I am looking to run ss3 fog max's amber with backlighting on a truck that has factory led headlights.

Edit: I might be confused and my not need that adapter?

Whatever adapter you need should be in the kit. The adapters by themselves are for people upgrading from the older (2-pin) connectors to backlight fogs.

It's likely that you'll still vampire tap into something. There's no existing 3rd wire in your fog light wiring, so there's nothing plug n play for that. What you tap into is up to you- a switch on the dash (no relay needed as it's low current), DRL circuit, turn signal, etc.

I installed the SS3’s white fog/driving lights this past weekend and like many others I struggled with where to tap in for the backlight. Then installed the raptor lights when it finally dawned on me “just tap into the raptor lights since I have those coming on with the ignition” and bingo…..upload_2022-4-27_4-44-8.jpg

I have a couple of questions about the wiring for the backlight on the SS3 LED Fog - Pro. I currently have "raptor" lights connected via an "Add-a-fuse" into the ignition fuse on my 2018 Tacoma Limited. The "raptor" lights come on as soon as I turn the truck on and stay on. I am wondering if I can t-tap into the "raptor" lights wire and if I can put 2 t-taps on that wire (one for the right fog and one for the left fog)? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, unrelated to the wiring, are there any current discount codes being offered for the SS3 LED Fog Pros?

    Thanks in advance!

Short answer is Yes! That is exactly how I worked the backlights. To make it even easier I put both backlight wires into the same spade connector to put into one T-tap on the red raptor light wire. That way I only had one tap.

Yes, this is a very popular route. You can t-tap to your Raptor lights as MystiqueTaco has performed above. This is because the power draw is very low for our backlight feature.

So how did you guys set your backlight color? Does cycling the ignition on/off do the trick?

Our SS3s don't include multiple backlight color options that are able to be cycled through.

However, our SS5 LED pods do include multiple backlight color options you can cycle through by toggling them on and off.

ya I have the SS5s and the install is about 2 weeks away so I’m exploring wiring options. I also never saw the 10sec video showing the double switch. That’s the route I’m shooting for, so I can turn them completely off. Thanks for the help, and sorry for confusing your SS3 thread. Super excited to get them on the truck.

Did you cut off each of the red connectors on the backlight wires and then crimp both of them into one connector and then connect that into the t-tap?

I know that this is the SS3 thread, but it seems to get the most traffic, so I figured I ought to leave this here...

I Received and installed a new set of SS5 Pros with 4000K emitters and clear spot lenses. These things are rad. Details and many more photos, including a comparison to the HID-upgraded Hella 700s that I was previously running as my off-road lights: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-and-adventures.484602/page-223#post-27307521
