So I had the unfortunate action that my sub finally decided to kill itself and blow yesterday. Frankly, I cant be all that mad since I have had that setup for over 10 years.

So this is what I have/had:
Orion H2 10.4 subwoofer which one of the voice coils was going bad, but did not get around to replacing, until now. The sub finally blew and rattles like a mofo and is toast.
Orion HCCA-D1200 amp which was still powering that but I have turned off for now.

I have been out of the audio realm for a long while and need some guidance. Based on the info below from the manual for the amplifier. Any recommendations on a replacement subwoofer? I was debating a JL 10w3, but if anyone has any other recommendations/experience I would appreaciate it. I currently have a ported box which I need to confirm the dimensions of regarding the airspace. Thanks for any input.

You've got a wide variety to choose from in that range. Stick with JL if you wanna be safe or peruse the audio forums and see what other prefer.

The JL is what I have seen a lot of and remember them being fairly popular even back when I originally did it.

With JL, I would try to get a 2ohm VC with your amp. That’s what I would do.

the orion was a pretty beefy sub, contrasted to the w3, which is more of a middle-of-the-road offering. i don't think you'll get the same output from the jl.

not knowing your box specs(size and port tuning), makes it a little hard--your port tuning frequency will play a part in sub selection.

i've been running a dayton ultimax 10 in my car since their introduction, i'd recommend it as a more high-excursion replacement to the orion. it hits low, and hits loud, while still being cheaper
